electronic retractable mirrors

anyone actually done or considered doing this mod? do they simply fold in when you power the car off like some mercedes models? i would assume you would have to buy the jdm accord mirrors, how much that would cost i am not sure.
i think it would be fancy and convienent to have, considering someone scratch up one of my mirrors

He's a baller, so he paid 3k to have his installed... overnight

I buddy of mine put electric folding mirrors on his 6G Accord. Pretty sure they were sourced from a CL7 Euro R.

Perhaps you could use mirrors from the 09 MDX?? No sure how big they are in comparison to the TL's but I'm sure they're at least a little larger.

However it's done, I'm sure it won't be cheap.

Every market has different priority in terms of feature set.

If you were about to buy a car in Asian country, then this feature is probably standard, as far as I know, even Corolla and Camry has this feature in Asia.

Same with Civic and Accord.

Perhaps if we buy parts from Asia market and bring it over for mod?

One of the sickest TLs on the forum. It is very clean with a lot of details you won't notice unless you look hard. Like the mirrors, bodykit molded in, sidemarkers deleted, enginebay detail, mesh grille mod, black roof, etc. etc. Obviously a lot of $$$ spent in the bodyshop.

These are very common in all cars when I went to Taiwan. My GFs sentra even had them. Big city with very narrow streets, this feature is a must.

I contemplated this mod a year back or so...
Some reason at that time most aziners did not agree with power-retracting mirrors.

I was close to doing this... by using another side-mirror. But then I wouldn't know if I would still be able to tilt the mirrors when in reverse or still have heated-mirrors.

The way I see these mirrors set up are once the engine is off and you arm the vehicle--the mirrors fold in.
Then the mirrors would fold out when the vehicle is off when you unlock the doors.

the 07-08 7 series BMW has this feature and as well the auto tilt in a slimmer form, so they can be combined together. What will need to be done is a heavy duty motor placed inside the the Triangle part of the mirror (attaches to the door) and move the mirror. As well the stop/resistance point you feel has to be removed. Its probably a hinge that moves up to get over a bump under that area. Then you get the wires together from both sides, and then get them to the trigger, which would be the beep to auto fold the mirrors, and then a reverse trigger to a switched power source so they fold down with the car off. Also you will need to put in a few relays to make sure the mirrors down fold down more in the event that the car isn't locked, but turned off and then turned on again.

It's definitely a nice feature. My friend's A6 and Escalade EXT does it. But if you are talkin about losing the tilt/heat and spending a lot of time and energy to do it then it is more trouble than it is worth. Think about if the mirror gets damaged or someone just leans on your car and breaks the mirror off?

As said it is common on high end vehicles. My next car will probably have it so I am not worried I can wait. That car will also have cooled seats, swivel headlamps, trunk and door closers, Audio HD, power rear sunshade and a bunch of other things that aren't worth retrofitting unless you got a lot of $$$ and you don't care....But then I would just get a 7-series in the first place.

7 series FTW! But getting the motors and the wires hooked up and working on it is going to take a while of testing and work plus money for the parts and any screw ups. Something along the lines of 15-20 hrs. Plus about 1K...
