This is directly from Jet Performance
We do have an ECU upgrade available for your Acura. The ECU upgrade does require that the factory ECU be sent to us for modification. You must purchase the upgrade package before sending the ECU to us for the modification. Suggested retail is $299.00, and the part number is 65001. The ECU upgrades are all done per the application, in other words, do all the modifications you intend on doing before you get the ECU upgraded. That way the program can be set up for the specific modifications. Hp gains would be dependant on the extent of modifications.

So there isn't anything that can/will be done for those of us who wish to get a little bit more from what is already being held back by the factory.
I don't plan on any powertrain upgrades.

Unless you are able to just replace a chip or module in it. Then you have to hope there isn't a security tape or some other hidden measure there that would let the dealership know if someone has tampered with it.

You are right about not seeing any type of major improvements on an NA car though.

I had an ECU upgrade done on my previous car, a Saab 9-5. The torque numbers increased from 207 to 289. Very noticeable....for about two weeks, then my brain adjusted to the increased power and I didn't really feel it anymore. Plus, living Miami, I rarely had to the opportunity to use the additional power. My advice would be not to waste your money on ECU upgrades, especially if you drive on congested roads most of the time. I installed the kit after the warrantee was up and experienced no driveability problems (gas mileage actually increased when I kept my foot out of it).
By the way, with that kit I had I paid for the new ECU plus a core charge for my existing ECU. After installation I returned the core unit and they credited myr account. This also gave you the option of returning the car to factory specs by keeping the old ECU. It also meat zero down time for the car.

NA car would gain very little from ECU upgrade. only forced induction cars see big gains. its a huge waste of money. for NA applications you will more likely see gains by boring and stroking the motor. this of course usually increaes displacement and hence the extra power. this is not a cheap thing to do. so the easiest way to get a power upgrade is turbo or supercharger.

ECU upgrade on a turbo can be very gainful but at the same time, ur beating the crap out of ur car badly, on N/A cars it wont be dramatic, but it wont affect the car as bad, but dont forget, the emmisions as well will fail in some states.
