ECU reset = more power/better response?

I reset my computer every week by disconnecting the negative and step on brake pedal for 1-2 min and I get a little more power and much better throttle response and mileage...for about a few days. I have tested this with 89 and 92 octane and there is a difference. I buy BP but know shell is better, better discount with PB here in Indy.

Does anyone else feel the reset difference?

I don't know why anyone would use less than 91 octane in any scenario. If there's anything you wanted to do concerning gas, it's avoiding ethanol.

You don't have to disconnect the battery.

1. Turn key to position II
2. Turn everything off (radio, A/C, lights, etc.)
3. Take key out for a few secs
4. Step on gas pedal all the way down
5. Put key back in and turn to position II (do not start the car)
6. Wait 30secs
7. Turn key to position 0 (do not take key out)
8. Take foot off gas pedal
9. Wait 2 full minutes
10. Start the car

I don't know if you need steps 1-3 first, but this is how I do it and it works every time.

^yes, it (the ECU or PCM) relearns your driving patterns. I noticed a difference, and need to do it again.

The pedal method doesn't do Jack squat the only PROVEN method is disconnecting your negative terminal on your battery for a few minutes. I have done both and doing the latter makes a huge difference

there isn't a fuse you can just pull? I know in my CL pulling the "clock" fuse resets the ECU

LOL, this is a shared delusion. Resetting the ECU does nothing for power unless you've changed something performance related that's directly governed by the ECU. You need a solid 15-20 horsepower increase in a 3500 lb car to feel a real change in performance. The TL doesn't somehow lose that kind of power and then magically regain it after an ECU reset.

It works for me just like disconnecting the battery, no difference between the 2 methods whatsoever. Also works for many others in the main thread posted above. Whether it works for all years / ECUs and models that part I don't know.

It doesn't add any power. My understanding is it just resets the ECU's learning, so for a few miles / days the car drives a bit smoother and there is a noticeable increase in partial throttle acceleration compared to normal. WOT is the same. Very noticeable on my car.

True. Even 20hp is hard to feel. The drive by wire might be a little more aggressive, opening the throttle more at part throttle but full throttle should be the same and part throttle will go back to normal after a while. The shifts seem to be a little firmer at part throttle which will make it feel more aggressive. In reality the car is no quicker at full throttle.
