E30 vs 7G Accord V6 6MT

So TylerT and I raced tonight, just a 10 MPH roll and a 40 MPH roll. Tyler is an awesome guy and I made a new friend, so that alone was worth it!

Me: E30 with S50 swap, intake, exhaust, tune, and a 220 lb passenger, 2.93 gears (3rd gear top = 104~ mph ;( )
Him: Full bolt-ons (minus PCD's), RPF1's, 6MT, no passenger

First video is a 10 MPH roll up to around 80

2nd video is a 40 roll up to around 90. Enjoy!

Vids turned out really nice, GoPros ftw.

Nice meeting you and your cousin, we shall run again one of these days ... perhaps from a 65 / 70mph roll?

And just so everybody knows, I was slamming my brakes at the end of each run because I was pretty unfamiliar with the roads .. I didn't want a random bump / crest throwing my car into a spin doing 70+ mph .. no contacts ftl.

When I do work for those clients in SD, we can definitely meet up and do a 65 MPH roll on those gloriously huge SD freeways.

It was awesome man, we gotta stay in touch and be IT buddies. And where's that try-hard wimp Yonkers? He should be here soon to tell us how fast his boy-racer poser RSX is. LOL and how he'd soooo smoke us.

Man, GoPro vids are awesome. Good runs guys. Not gonna lie, wish you guys went further into 4th gear, but as you said you were unfamiliar with the roads so that's totally understandable.

1st run it seemed Tyler was ahead a bit and creeping slightly until the end where the E30 stopped the pull. The 2nd run the Accord was on the E30s rear QP at the end? I can't tell where the GoPro was. If you guys would have went further in the 2nd run I think once the E30 shifted to 4th the Accord would creep back a bit because of the shorter gears. No doubt the E30 would've been ahead though.

Riley, put that vid on bimmerforums lol.

Good runs.

One thing that E30 has is torque ..

10mph, I got the slight jump on him and maintained my distance due to my more aggressive gearing. Had we stayed and kept on going in 4th, I think the E30 would have stopped the pull and creeped ... aerodynamics would play an interesting role though.

40mph, my car wasn't exactly out of it's powerband but it doesn't seem to pull as hard as if I were starting at 50mph. With the E30s torque, it went right into it's powerband whereas my car just waited for VTEC .

Good runs tho, we'll have to do some freeway pulls and see where my 4th gear lines up with his ... it'll be demolition without his 225lb passenger tho lol.

Yea 45 is a better roll for us, but 40 is still good. If he lost the passenger he would probably put a couple cars on you from 40-110. Not bad though Tyler Any plans for PCDs or HFCs?

Btw it's hard to hear the E30, but Tyler your car sounds awesome.

No plans for HFCs at the moment, if I see a deal I can't refuse I may just hop on them and hop on the catless bandwagon. I recently smogged my car so I have another 2 years to play around without cats on .. time will tell.

I would be more interested in getting different intake manifolds, p&p and runners ... torque = .

Sonnick, you should really look into getting lightweight wheels .. it totally transforms the feel of the car not to mention the throttle response is great.

I don't think I would have pulled 1st-3rd without my RPF1s ..

Yea I want RPF1s....really badly. I just can't spend $2K on wheels right now. Although when I think about it, I did spend over $1K on the intake manifold/TB/ported runners and everything else that came with it. If I were single I probably would've had RPF1s by now, along with a front lip, fogs........you catch my drift lol.

I picked up my white RPF1s for $1100 with some dope dummer tires (REO01Rs - 255/40/17) .. keep hunting and you'll find a deal on Craigslist or VESIXPE. They pop up every once in awhile.

PCDs ... so tempting now.

I'm only considering it because my heatshields on one of my cats is rattling on cold starts, I guess deleting the cats all together would be a good fix.

Yeah, I'm not seeing a 108 mph car here. This Accord is what, 98-99 mph? A 10 mph trap advantage looks plain ugly from any speed.

And +1 on the lighter wheels. I knocked off 10 lbs/corner going from my stock wheels/Bridgestone Potenza RE760's to 18" Forgestars/Conti DW's. The difference is noticeable in all dynamics.

Well if Sonnick's car is anything to compare to, I think 96-99 is a little underrated.

Who honked off? BEEEEP...... BEEEEEP-BEEP

Sonnick has a good amount of engine work done. He's making at least 20whp more than I am (Precats, P&P, new intake manifold?) ... I expect to be around 230 - 235whp with my current mods.

Never dynoed my car tho ...

Which Jpipe Tyler? I think you'd benefit from a different collector to mate to the 3" catback. Btw I think Tyler's car is a solid 99-100.x car.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if you put down 240 SAE. Only mods I have on you are PCDs/Ported IM/Collector. And I really don't know if the ported manifold is helping with stock sized runners. If the ports on the manifold are larger than the runners, it could be a hindrance. I won't know until they both come off hehe. Good thing I'm getting the 3.7 manifold port-matched to the runners

It's hard to get clear cut 1080p videos when there's little light to start with. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the camera bump up the ISO with little light?

I'm sure If he captured the video during the day the quality would be much better.

It's the newest one, the Hero HD 2.

Youtube + night video = low quality.

Here's a video of my cousin's 500 whp Evo I took yesterday for comparison:

Bingo. I think the iphones are similar

Low light just turns all my vids to crap.
Any of you guys have experience with the Hero2?

What do the wheels weigh vs. stock and what do PCD's add on a J w/ other bolt ons? I know a RH for the K adds a good ~15whp not only b/c of the design of the header vs. stock, but because you are deleting the cat.

I'd agree w/ Sonnick and say the Accord is a solid 98-100mph car with the mods listed if Sonnick is trapping 101 w/ a few more mods on a pretty good track.

IIRC, stock 6MT wheels weight about 21 or 22 pounds a rim.

These RPF1s are 15 or 16 pounds .. I noticed a good change in throttle response in any gear or any rev.

I'll let Sonnick do the talking for bolt ons, but I believe PCDs w/ a decent exhaust setup is good for about 40whp when all put together.

Is that 15whp before or after a tune? PCDs delete the primary cats which incorporate the 'exhaust manifold' which are cast into the cylinder head. So our 'headers' are actually cats, or test pipes like the VQ motors.

The gains typically depend on which Jpipe is used to be honest. One member with a 7G Accord gained only like 5whp with the PCDs after a full exhaust setup. Other members have gained as much as 10-15. This is all untuned btw. With I/E/Jpipe/PCDs/tune the gains were something like 45-50whp.

A full exhaust setup is usually good for 25-30whp, sometimes a bit more untuned. The cats are pretty restrictive as is the stock Jpipe.

It's hard to say exactly how fast his car is. There have been some members with full bolt on/6MTs who have trapped 97-98mph, and some 100+. From this vid, Tyler seems to shift very quickly and with his lightweight wheels & tire size combo, I'd guess a 100-101mph car. Go to the track Tyler! Lol.

Too bad all 1/4 tracks in Southern California suck ..

The only decent 1/4 mile trip track is Fontana raceway .. I believe the elevation is somewhere around 1500ft, it's always packed and it's almost always hot.

Last time I ran there, I trapped just under 97mph with just an intake / j-pipe .. car was really heatsoaked with stock motor mounts and suspension. The ambient temperature was somewhere around 85f IIRC.

Now that my car is firmed up with more power, I don't think 99mph would be out of the question ..

15whp just by bolting on the header vs. stock

20-25whp after KPRO
