E3 Spark Plugs

All -

I've had some time off this summer and decided to install a new set of spark plugs in my 2004 Acura TL with 42K miles on it.

Okay, sure - I went against the grain and decided to try out something different - E3 Spark Plugs.

Why you ask? Well, with the time off that I have had, I've seen plenty of car shows on TV and honestly, I ran across a video review where they hooked up a contraption to test spark plugs and seeing the spark with my own eyes sold me on the product.

I ordered six for $6/each from Summit Racing and did the install under the hour. Remove the strut bar for sure!

I had also done all the previous sea foam treatments, all the fluids, etc. At that time I noticed a huge improvement. That was about 5K miles ago.

I noticed a very nice (albeit it very smooth) improvement with these spark plugs. I was actually suprised because the front three spark plugs looked just okay, and the rear three - well worn, but not horrible.

Overall, I'm very happy and a week has went by with no issues.

The website is www.e3sparkplugs.com if you are interested and the plugs can be ordered here: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku.

a week is not much of a test time- Many things will run in the TL, but how does it do over a months worth of gasoline is the first thing
At 40k- thats low miles to change the plugs- so if you got a big improvement over a known mileage amount- that will really mean something!
Those with 100k on the plugs will get results from everything~ so not a fair test
How the work at 10-20 50k miles is the other question- mileage and lifespan

I can see that- but they are the same price as NGK Iridium which are approved for the car
I am not aware of the ads for e3- do they claim increased whatever over conventional plugs?
With our hi energy ignitions I am just wary.
Someone recently pulled the plugs and found autolites in their TL!!!
you mean that quickitune place didnt use the correct parts- wow - how unusual

It would be cool to actually see some ratings on spark plugs, to see which ones really are the best. Anybody can deliver a good sales pitch, but ultimately that means nothing.

I am sticking with the acura approved and factory installed brank of NGK-
Went with the Iridium IX for my gen2 because Iridium is a superior metal, and I dont plan on changing them for another 50k miles.
Gen3 uses Iridium- no IX after - as stock factory plug
IMO the stock plugs last about 50-60k miles and lose efficiency there-after.
- will they go 105- sure, but gas is expensive in my world- and fresh $45 worth of spark plugs and a can of seafoam will make it run like new again

So far, so good - no issues.

I did notice that I have increased smooth pick up on the highway.

Any increase in mileage?
Did you seafoam the intake and gas, and clean the TB butterfly- thats all mileage gainers too- and give the new plugs a a clean place to operate in

We index our normal plugs so the gap is facing the intake valve and the spark is not shrouded. Look at the design on these plugs and tell me if you think they block much of the spark...

Prior to doing the plugs, I did all the cleanings necessary as listed and more! So, yes, the environment was a very good set up for these plugs to operate in.

Honestly, I'm watching my MPG and with the price in gas and the humid heat index in Illinois, it "appears" that I may be getting 1-3 more MPG per the trip computer. I will have to watch it more over time and really let you know. I think it's too early right now.

I'll update everyone in a week or so.

Cool Has it been a week yet?

Just wondering how these plugs are doing? Did you ever get an accurate reading on the MPG increase?

I am very happy with these spark plugs. Actually, I have seen a 2-3 MPG increase, especially the way I drive my car by often spirited driving. So far so good.

You guys might want to check out some other car forums for reviews on these plugs. The vast majority of reports that I have read say these things are a bust and nothing but marketing hype.

Stick with NGK's and don't fall for the lastest snake oil gimmick.

Hi.

The E3's are still in my TL and really working out well. After all this time I do see improved fuel economy as well as smooth idle and pick up off the line. I really can't talk much about marketing as I saw an independent TV show display the comparison live with the spark on a spark machine gadget and the E3 did have more. So, go figure. Otherwise, I am very happy with these for now.

I used E3 on my Honda Accord. It seems working fine so far. Acceration seems faster and more pep. It is a long term performance that I have wait any see.

E3 has more area for spark than normal spark plug other than that I could not see any different. I couldn't find any E3 for my 2002 TLS so I cannot comment how well it would work on my TL. I am using NGK iridium on mine.

Cool write up. I got Denso Iridium's in my TL and they are good.
Might think about these when its time to change them again.

All is still good, about a 3-4MPG increase after months of use. I'm happy with them.
