Dvd...

I've always wondered this... if the Navi system is on DVD does that mean if i go into the trunk, pop out the Navi DVD and pop in a Movie DVD, i could be watching a movie on my LCD while driving? or is this not possible?

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I can't tell you not owing a nav, but why don't you conduct the experiment and let us know the results? I would suspect the answer is no, but then again why not give it a shot.

Only in the back seat i presume? and is this law enforced in all states?

Not sure about any prohibition of using DVD in the front.

But, the regulations do prohitbit any manufacturors installing DVD in the front. Thus, all dealers will say it's your own responsibility if you attempt to alter/install your DVD screen in the front.

It's illegal to have any kind of video display in the front of the car that is visible by the driver.
Navigation and reversing cameras are specifically excluded.

I don't know anyone who's gotten a ticket out of this, but still, that is what the law says.

Not possible. The DVD you get for Nav is not a video disk. It's a data disk on a digital medium. DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disk. It might contain topgraphical data and may be a software to interpret the data. Even if you put a DVD video in it, it will not play it as your DVD plays it.

But if you did want to watch DVDs, you can if you install the equipment from this company.
