Duplicolor Shadow - Anyone Tried It?

Anyone try it? On chromed grill pieces or emblems for example?

Pics of your results?

looks similar to using vht night shades over emblems to get that black chrome look. I tried it and it came out blotchy looking. Some here have supposedly had success though.

I don't like how in the video they don't show you a close up of the finished product. Seems like a good idea though.

I agree. If I ever do my grill, I'd like to try it.

It does look cool, i would be interested in doing my rear "A" emblem since i plan to debage the rear, and just leaving the "A".

Someone should do it and post pic's to see if it's worth it.

Only concern I have is its to go over chrome and our grill isn't chrome so without the high gloss of chrome it might look odd.

Would like to see how it does look tho so if anyone does try it on the piece at the front of the hood.

....

Ahh, right. I forgot some models have a satin/matte trimming. TL-S is supposed to be black chrome or dark chrome (or some such), but it's really not very "black" or "dark" at all.

But it is shiney, so this might work better on that trim.

I have used paints similar to this in the past, and the final 'shiny' coat can often be VERY difficult to achieve...I'd have to see someone else use this to vouch for the efficacy of the spray, it was HELLA tough using their 'chrome'

Bought it a while back because i wanted a darker tint on the black chrome piece on my Type S tail lights...but ended up experimenting with the A emblem first.

I think I sprayed it too dark. It can come out close to the Type S grill piece chrome if you spray the right amount. It does come out a bit blotchy and if you look at it upclose, there is a bunch of spots...in other words...not a very smooth shadowing.

I did it more than 3 months ago so I will try to see if I still have the emblem so I can take an close up picture.

I've used the dupli-color wheel kits in the past - they have always looked great when you're done, but the finish is not very resistant at all to road debris. Always ended up chipping after about six months. I got really tired of redoing it.
