Expect many replies to be Read The Manual!

Yes there is a chip, it provides an unique frequency to the computer which tells it..yep...that's my programmed key. If you attempt to insert a precut key without the chip, it will not turn in the ignition.

Don't quote me on the above.. as my memories go back to the 2G car I've owned in regards to this matter when I was installing a Clifford 3.5 Matrix alarm... and after that the car was stolen...So I rather buy stocks now than invest into any more alarms.

CAR can still be stolen!!!!!! friends at acua have told me some thieves in CAli where he use to live have master keys and some type of immobilizer thingy that go right next to that key. and what it does is mess up the frequency. I have seen a friend, that works at honda. had a call from one of our close friend and said he lost the key to his accord so he asked for the vin number. and he had the key made. and went ot the car and all he did to program the key was turn it and pump the brakes and did something else to it with out the program unit that the factory has.

The thieves never opened the door, so no alarm sounded. If you open the door without key it will sound.

For the last 30 years, Consumer Reports has recommended installing a hidden fuel cut-off switch. Simple.

i think i have seen some lockable battery cut-offs too, but then you have to re-type in your codes every time to have a lockdown.

I doubt it.. I wonder why they don't do it.. I had a corolla that had the factory glass break [microphone] in the center console - I had a soda in there that popped one day and set it off.. it was funny but not funny because I had to clean the inside of my car after that

From my previous experiences.... save your money, I find alarms very useless... Who ever wants to get into your car, they will.

I've had all the sensors..all the bells and whistles with my premium Clifford 3.5 Matrix system...all to no avail...

Just beef up your auto insurance...

But at the same time, if Acura had glass break/audio alarm sensors, I could hear the alarm from the house and put in some whoop ass on the bad guys from stealing my iPod, laptop, etc.
I'd rather keep her from being violated than going through the hassle of paperwork.

MMP1214....I agree. Acura makes premium vehicles with all this upscale technology. The least they could do is give us a little more in the form of glass break sensors. Thieves have been breaking into car windows for a long time. The sensors would really send them back to the drawing board to figure out a new way to get into the car without attracting attention. Most thieves break into cars through the windows to steal what's inside anyway. Glass sensors help alert the vehicle's surroundings of the moron's attempts!

But, I agree, no matter what alarm or sensors you have, if they want it bad enough, they'll take it.

agreed.
i think alarms are more for small time thieves that just want to steal whats inside your car, not your car itself. and even then.

ive beefed up my auto insurance, if someone steals my car i will get the value of what i paid for it when i bought it. (+5% after each year passes)

i think it just the way they try to make business. more thieve beark into car. the owner going to get it fix or even buy a new acura. small time thieve just want what ever in your car. my co-worker wife's car got her stock rims stolen. they only get wife rims and then they try to get his rims next, but the nieghbor came out and saw them try to losen the rims and thieve went after the nieghbor with the tool so ran back to his house, by the time the cops came they were gone. that is four new set of rims from acura.lol. most factory alarm don't have impact sensor. for those who park their car out side beware they do steal stock rims!.

Yes, it can be added very easily. Hook up the glass sensor wires to the hood latch, basically the latch won't go off with the car on and only with the car off. The alarm will think the hood is being opened when the glass breaks.
Search for glass sensor and there will be a good thread showing the steps and instructions for it in the audio section.

The alarm will ring, but a quick smash and grab and you can loose quite a bit. By the time you hear the alarm, get a weapon, and run outside, you will have wasted atleast 2 minutes, within which someone can grab a few items and run into an awaiting car.
