DRL LED issue...

So I bought some leds for my DRL and they do not light up (very dim). I tried to have 1 led bulb and 1 oem bul and both of them worked though. After some research I realized I needed some resistors for them to work so I ordered some on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/130730922284...84.m1423.l2649)

So yesterday I received the resistors yesterday, installed them and still no light in my LED's. If I only install 1 resist, 1 bulb lights up but if I install both, none of them lights up..

any inputs?

Thanks

The ebay page shows that this part is not compatible with the 3G TL. When the DRLs are on, they draw some relatively fixed amount of electrical current. This current passes across a resistor and creates a voltage drop. The vehicle uses that voltage drop as a gauge to determine if the correct amount of current is flowing through the bulbs, hence being able to determine if they are burnt out. Different vehicles must have different methods of measuring this (different currents/sense resistors) meaning that different types of load resistor harnesses will be required.

The tricky thing about LEDs is that different types of LED bulbs will draw different amounts of current, and the load resistors are installed to draw an additional (fixed) amount. One set of load resistors may not be compatible with different LED bulbs. But the first thing is to ensure that the load resistors are compatible with your vehicle, as the size of the resistors directly determines the current that will create the voltage sensed by the car.

reverse polarity? led should light up no matter what without resistors. The resistors are for the bulb out warning, because of the low current draw. So, the ebay ones should work regardsless of what the compatible list.

You will also need some way of providing full power to the bulbs along with the resistors to get rid of the bulb out warning on the dash. I have a kit from VLEDs that has the entire wiring harness kit; this is my setup https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14465836. Some other members use a similar kit from iJDMtoy that is explained in this thread; https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/ijdmtoy-led-drl-harness-install-w-pics-853543/.

have you guys ever tried plugging in led drl bulbs on the TL? it will not light up after it detects an led bulb. OP might have gotten wrong value resistors. also, stock drl voltage is only 5-6v so I highly suggest getting a harness for full power, dont cheap out.

any where i can buy the harness alone? And is there any LED that doesn't require any resistor/harness?

I failed to mention this. A harness will prevent a warning light as well as provides the correct voltage for the LEDs to operate. In order for it to produce the correct output voltage, the input must also be correct. I would certainly make sure that the harness you use includes the 3G TL on it's "Applications" list for this reason.

Req21 provided links to two other threads. You should check them out! I would probably choose the VLEDs harness. He did a great write up on his install.

If your TL is 07 or 08 the DRL are wired in series instead of parallel. You can either purchase a harness from VLEDS or I can tell you how to make one either from scratch or from an existing relay harness.
