routine maintenance. check tire wear, pressure, air filter, change the oil, give her a bath and hit the road. our cars are highway queens.

Where in Mexico?

You do realize there is a civil war going on down there? Tens of thousands have died in the past few years. I wouldn't try to stand out if I were you.

Mexico does have Acuras. I'm not sure if they offer navigation there or not. If they do you could buy a disc.

Since you're staying in Puebla I'll assume you'll be ok. Not sure if you've been there before or not, but in my experience, people drive like maniacs there with little regard for traffic rules or even basic lane control.

Violence and kidnapping has gotten pretty severe along the border and even further into Mexico, be careful. Puebla as of 2012 is still contested but has influence from the Sinola cartel. Use good judgment and be safe.

I personally would fly and save the wear and tear.

No way I would step foot in mexico...... better off fly and rent locally. If your car gets jacked your insurance may not cover you outside of the states

Do not go right now. I know friends with family and they are not going anymore. They also don't drive their cars due to too many getting stolen or damaged. It's not safe or smart to go there.

when we would go to Tijuana we would never take our car. Take the trolley to the border and walk over. Driving from NY to Mexico-good, driving in Mexico-very bad

Went there with my dad a few years back in his 97 Dakota from Va. about 4 days to Jalisco. IMO its WORTH driving until the border then stuff gets weird. you gotta make sure you have you visitors stickers or whatever it is for the car (takes hours) then the endless check points as your going south. Then you got the mountain roads where people just dont care if you die or not. Not worth it. and I went through this trip 3 times. Once going down and flying back and another driving there and back.

I prefer a long trip lets say California to Toronto, Canada.

I would never drive the TL to mexico. Too much auto theft, too much risk for damage to the car.

Have you talked to your insurance agent about this? I'm not even sure insurance would cover you across international borders.

all of this adds up to just don't do it.
