drive-by-wire means no cruise control feedback to gas pedal...

On previous cars I've driven with cruise control, the gas pedal moves when the cruise control accelerates the car. It's a strange feeling to have the pedal move by itself, but does provide feedback so you know what the cruise control is doing.

On the TL, the gas pedal is electronically connected to the engine. When the cruise control accelerates the car, the gas pedel doesn't move by itself. Not sure if that's better or worse...

Now, on the previous car, the brake didn't move when the cruise control braked... So maybe the TL is more consistent.

Which do you prefer? Other thoughts?

I've never heard of a cruise control that actually controlled brakes as well as throttle. What kind of car was that?

it feels a little weird when i cancel cruise and give a lil gas. my mom's crv the gas pedal moves and so when i cancel it, i can maintain the same speed by just putting my foot on where the pedal is while with my TL i have to push the pedal to maintain or gain speed. haha i just realized that with your post. guess it's no biggie, no preference either.

I've had cruise control on my last several cars, but I never realized the gas pedal actually moved. I'm an idiot. Now I learn it will not, in fact, move on the TL. When you're stupid, it is not hard to be amazed.

If you have the cruise control on, why would you be touching the pedal anyway? Defeats the purpose doesn't it?

This makes it possible to pass on the highway without cancelling cruise control and then re-enabling it. Just press the gas until you're past the other car, then let up on the gas and it goes back to the previous cruise speed.

None with most current cruise controls.....with the new laser curise controls, yes the car controls the brakes.

As far as the CC moving the pedal, yes most cars without drive by wire, would do this.

The cruise on my old '84 Toyota Camry used to work this way. I just assumed all cruise did.
