Door slams

Door slams
Bought my certified 07 TL/Navi a little over a month ago (replaced an 02 TL-S). So far I really do like everything about the car with a couple minor exceptions. One that bugs me are the doors. Is it just me or do the doors just like to close loudly even when not slammed? They just don't seem to have that soft, secure shut that other luxury brands have. Does this bother anyone and is there anything that can be done to improve it?
Another thing is the way the doors have the 2 levels of opening. The first stop is a bit narrow and the 2nd stop is way out there, ready to hit the car parked next to it. Try to stop at anywhere in between and the door will slam into your leg.
Granted we have adjusted to the door slamming issue by consciously remembering to close it gently. Even my wife now only uses a finger to shut the door after several "please don't slam the door" looks.

Full of water...
i dont even push my door closed. i just open it, step out, and let it close on its own. its not as nice as some cars, usually costing more $, but it has been the best i have ever owned. and like myron said, i dont park near anyone else if i can help it, i just dont trust others. and thats even with below 0 temps and a blizzard

Ha i thought i was the only one that lets the door close on its own. I like how the doors close. It sounds solid, unlike the TSX or my moms 08 accord. Sounds like a tin can when you close the doors.

hahah my mom always complains that my doors are heavy and close on her legs.
And my grandma... she has the hardest time getting the door to stay open while getting out of my car since it's lower than her toyotas..

This has to be one of my biggest pet peeves. When someone just SLAMS your door closed really hard and you can feel your car shake from the force. Same thing for the Trunk. So annoying....
I actually like how heavy the TL's doors are. It feels higher quality than a typical Accord 4d door which is much more lighter than the TL's.

The biggest problem i found, is that passengers slam the door as hard as they normally would their own cars. If you close the TL's door with the same force used as let's say a ford mustang's, or taurus' door (both of which i've previously owned), it feels like the TL's door will fall off. And vis-versa, if you close the door with the same force required to close the TL's door, a ford's door won't close completely (same would be for many other cars).
I purchased my TL a few years after my god father got one, and he always yelled at me for closing his TL's door too hard. Now that i own one, i understand the pain i was causing him.
Truth is, the TL's door simply doesn't need as much force to close as other car doors. Chalk that up to precision engineering (maybe even "over" engineering).

What I find pretty awesome to do is open the door to where it will stay open, get out, and while turning (as in walking towards the rear of the car and away) tap the door with 1 finger, keep walking, and then it closes. Hah, it's like, "damn, he knows exactly what his car is doing." Kind of like secret spy type stuff. Okay, I'm exaggerating. But it was kind of cool walking away and not looking back in front of a group of people. Then arming the factory alarm right when the door shut.
