Door Panel Pull Out Compartment ?

Does anyone know if the pull out compartment at the bottom of the front door panels is removable and/or replaceable? I know you can't buy just that part from Honda, but I would like to know it can be replaced? Thanks.

Not sure what it's official name is, but I guess you could call it that...

I would assume there is a way to remove it. Finding a replacement would be the hard part without buying a whole door panel.

That small side pocket inside tat panel is removable for sure. Its clipped in. Try taking it off and look inside for screws or crew cover

an upholstery shop can make it like new again or just buy a used door panel with one in good condition.

Looking at the parts diagram, I do not see the pocket offered as an individual piece, but I am not entirely sure if it can be removed or not. I should know though, I've had my door panels off at least 10 times each since I bought the car.

i think if you tug on it really hard, you can pull it out. almost like the glove compartment and the way you pull that out..
like, if you push in on the arms, maybe you can get it to come out of the joints

think of it this way: The door panel likely didnt get manufactured with that pocket as part of it. It's a moveable piece, which means someone at some point had to install it at the factory. If they installed it, you can uninstall it. Personally, I would take the panel off and get a good look all the way around to see what is holding it in place, if anything at all. Check the pivot point on both sides and see what holds it in place.

Actually, what I want to do is replace the driver's side door panel. Mine is in excellent shape, except it has the "elbow dents" along the top of the panel. I've had the car for almost a year now, and they aren't getting any better. I think I've found a panel that looks to be in good shape, except it has a rip in the leather at the bottom of that compartment. I was thinking of getting the panel and seeing if i could replace the ripped compartment with the one off mine. I've found a lot of diy advice on this site which has come in handy, but I' haven't seen anything about replacing the compartment. I know that since the compartment moves and isn't molded in to the door panel, that it had to have been installed in there at some point. I just wanted to see if anyone knew how to replace it without me poking around and breaking something.

yeah, since you'll be removing the panel any way, do what taco bell suggested..
look at it from all angles and find a way disassemble it

I looked at mine last night from my part out, and there isn't any thing that really sticks out to me if it were removable. Not saying it isn't but didn't really feel like breaking mine by pulling on it. I can take a look again tonight, since I will have more time, and disassemble it a little to see if there were hidden screws.

Thanks! I appreciate that! Whatever you do, don't break yours!

I imagine that these have to be installed as a separate part at some point during the assembly of the door panel, and my guess would be that the attachment parts would most likely be accessible from the back of the panel. You would think that it shouldn't be too difficult, but I've learned the hard way that isn't always the case.
