Door Lock Button

I live in Florida where the weather is often nice. But I can't put my arm out the window while driving because the door lock button is right where my elbow would be. The lock does not go all the way down into the door when locked. It is simply a bad design. Do the Acura engineers read this? Please re-design the door lock and move it either forward or down!!!
In the meantime, I tried to unscrew it...but the plastic cap came off and left a metal screw...even worse. Anybody noticed this...or found a solution?

cut exactly what

you mean cut the black plastic part that sticks up? Sort of cut it down to like the size of the cover on the valve stem of tires?

Others have pulled the door off, unscrewed the plastic lock pin, measured and sawed off some of the base, then screwed it back on.
