Question DOOR EDGE GAURDS/TRIM installation Question

I got my door edge gaurds in the mail yesterday. How do i install them??? They didnt send any glue or anything with them...and what about the silicon stuff...do I have to remove it or can I just install them over that?

I called up the Acura Dealership and they said they will charge $45 to install them....Should I do it my self or take it in...I mean is it hard to install them myself?

Thankx

There should have been instructions included, along with a tool for removing the silicon and templates to position them for installation. Look in the box. If you can't find them, there are instructions here http://www.handa-accessories.com/tl.html

It is easy to do and you can do it yourself. I let the dealer do it because he didn't charge me because of all the problems with the EL-42's.

The dealer put mine on, and didn't remove all the silicon. At first I was mad, but then I thought it is probably better because the doors will be protected and the edge guards fit perfectly. There is no glue because they are metal and fit on really tight.

So do you think I can do it myself? I just got a long wooden stick with mine...nothing else...is that to remove silicon or what?

The instructions are very explicit and should answer all of your questions, including the one about the long wooden stick.

I got the door edge guards from www.handa-accessories.com and installed the Door Edge Guards myself. I did not remove the silicone from the doors using the special tool and used a wooden mallet to gently hammer the door edge guards on the doors. They are very easy to install and the door edge guards are still on the doors after 4 months

That's the link I gave above. Thank you for the confirmation that the link is a good place to buy and also about it being ok to not remove the silicon. Since they are metal, once they are on it looks like it might be hard to get them off.
