Unhappy Door ding

I noticed this the other day on my TL I bought in June:

My ideas are:
  1. Get a touchup pen or paint bottle from the dealer
  2. Get a touchup pen or bottle from online
  3. Replace just the handle cover if possible?
  4. Have it repainted by my body shop

Can someone who's repaired something like this before give me advice?

I think it looks to deep to use touch up paint. I had a scratch just like this on my car a while back. I took it to the body shop and they did a good job on it.

Do you remember how much they charged and how long it took?

If time is a issue, you should just remove it yourself and take it to a place and have them fix it. I couldn't see it taking more than a day or so.

+1, I don't think it will look too good with touch up paint, I would just get a new door handle. Sorry that this happened on your new car

Yeah I just called the dealer.. $19 for the handle, $219 for labor. I'll try some other places.

Don't they pop off pretty easily? I'm SURE if you look around AZ, someone can help you out.

Here's a thread from the 3G garage which shows how to get at the handles:
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/my-car-super-street-143797/

They don't exactly "pop off"; there is a rod and pin which need to be removed. As for the $291 labor, if the dealership does everything listed there (including removal of the window glass) it might take 3 hours to take apart and reassemble.

Sadly everytime I wash my car I discover something that wasn't there before. Maybe I should just stop washing my car.
