Dome Light Question

Hey guys,

I've tried searching for this but couldn't find the answer. I am curious if the dome light automatically turns off after some period of time passes when you lock the car. So more specifically, that switch near the moonroof opener has 3 positions, off, on when the doors open, and on. So if I leave it on and close the door and lock the car, it seems to stay on. Does it turn off automatically after some time?
Thanks.

It gets dimmer and turns off when it's set to middle position. So it turns on when the doors open, then when you close the doors, it dims and turns off. However, if it is in the on position, it stays on when the doors close and the car is locked.

You can adjust the time for how long you want it to stay on. It's on the dash info settings, play around with it.

The Interior Light Dimming Time that you are talking about only applies when the switch is in the Door Activated or middle position. When it is in the I or ON position, the light stays on even after you close the doors and lock the car with the remote. So apparently this means that if you forget it like that, you will drain your battery. Unless there is some cutoff time that the manual does not mention.

If it stays on even after the ignition is cut, the system design is flawed. It should cutoff automatically after, say, 20 minutes, to prevent battery drain. Many cars have this feature. My other car, a Maxima, does that. We have to read the owner's manual carefully to find the true answer, instead of guessing what might happen.

How did you get the trunk open with the battery dead? As I recall, our TL's dont have the option to open the trunk with the actual key.

There's a handle behind the passthrough cover in the rear seat.

Pull down the center portion, open the plastic cover, and reach in at the top and you will feel the handle. Pull on it and the trunk will open.
