does this VIN # make sense?
iam picking up my TL next week and the vin # is 26xxx. is this a newer build date or was it found in a lot somewhere? what shound i check out about the car, any known problems in that vin area? thanx for the help

Given the fact that my TL built on 4/28 has a VIN of 45xxx, yours would have been made about 4 months prior or about the end of January. It may or may not have the news Bridgestone tires since I can't find the thread here that had the VIN cutoff. Acura is making about 5000-6000 TLs per month since about Sept of last year I think.

I wouldn't take that VIN at this date if I were you. In other years it might not matter. But given that the TL appears to have evolved over the year into a more stable car, the later the VIN the better.

I meant we don't indicate the lower VINs 04TL having the potential problems/issues, however, you should get the new VIN if your dealer mentions the "brand new" car and let you wait for a long time.
As I'm thinking, you should get some additional discount since that car may sit in some dealers' parking lot for a couple of months, day and night, sunny and rainy.
No offense to any 04TLers.

Got mine on Feb. 18th, and the VIN # is 27xxx, so yours would be a bit older than that. No problems here (so far), but it does have the old Bridgestones...
Luckily, I've only had a little vibration with them once, after a snowstorm where I didn't move my car for about a day and a half, but I've also noticed that the handling's not so great in heavy rain. Of course, some others on this site have said that the new EL42's aren't a whole lot better. I plan to replace mine with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires before the winter.
My advice: either try to negotiate a big discount, or ask them to give it to you with Michelins, to make up for them selling you a 3-month-old car.

March 13, 2004 my vin was 284XX the car was built in March as well. Check the sticker on the B pillar as you open the door to see when the build date is on your vehicle. Im 2000 cars after yours and had no problems except for the tires. The vibration is minimul only betwwen 45 and 50 miles per hour. everthing else on the car is great. No rattles nothing
