Does Anyone Still Have The Bad Tire's On There Tl
#2
I am supposed to have mine replaced next week. I am skeptical that this will work, and is nothing more than further stall tactics; I still think the problem is drivetrain related. Why? Because at the suggestion of a mechanic, I shifted to neutral at 70mph and the vibration almost disappeared.

I have the old school tires, like them, and will keep them. Some of you may have problems. Some of you may be too picky. But as you can see, the answer to your question is yes, someone still has them.

Yes, I have an early car w/5000 miles now, and haven't had the tires replaced. Flat-spot related vibration is definitely less now that the weather is warming up.
I'm may just live with it, as I'm concerned that the dealer will screw up mounting balancing. My experience with service gives me no confidence in their ability to do it right.
Ditto slighly mismatched bumper color. I'll live with it, no hand spray is going to come close to quality of a factory paint job.

I got mine replaced with Pilot Sports. I had minimal flatspotting issues with the tires, but the biggest problem was how badly these POS perform in rain and snow. I didn't feel safe driving the car with them when the weather wasn't perfect and would resort to driving the g/f's car until I had them replaced. Now it drives like a dream.
So, to me, it was a matter of safety, not pickiness as some suggest.

Yes, I still have the old tires. Not just flatspotting, I have vibration from about 45-55 all of the time. It doesn't go away when the tires warm up.
My friend wanted to drive the car this morning as he's been car shopping. After feeling the vibration and hearing how Acura has me waiting now ten weeks, he's now leaning toward the G35.

I have the original EL42s (Purchased in December) with close to 7,000 miles. No, my car doesn't have any vibration. I was so concerned initially because of all the threads here that I was overly conscious of the matter. There is a stretch of road near my home with new asphalt and the car rides on it like a dream - smooth and straight. Although most have complained about early VIN number having poor tires (EL42), but mine has never been a problem.

I could feel the difference as soon as I changed the tires. The ride is dramatically improved and when I go over an expansion joint it doesn't feel like the back end is going to break loose any more.
Acura is going to get the EL42s back at the end of my lease.
Even if your EL42s are not flatspotting it is well worth changing the rubber.

I have a VIN 10XXX, and I still have the "old" tires. Can anyone "reliably" describe the problem with the vibrations? I just want to make sure that I do not have the problem, and not just that I am insensitive to vibrations

Sure. At 36 mph there's just a bit of a vibration you can feel in the steering wheel, at 48 it's definitely more noticable, and at 53 mph it's a vibra-massage thru the wheel. It pretty much disappears after 10/15 minutes of driving.

What are the guide lines for getting your wheels replaced? How do you know if you got "the bad ones". Is there a way to identify by brand the bad tires?

Yep. I still have them. I enjoy the early morning massage as I go to work, then it goes away - not worth any additional cost or dealer aggravation right now.
