I have rear bumper damage and need to get it replaced. While that's being done at the shop I was wondering if I should ask them to throw on Type S tails while the bumper is off, if it needs to be off to install. If not, i'll just have them do the bumper work and I'll install them later. I am planning to install an a-spec kit so i might have them throw on the rear peice of the kit so i won't have to take it off later. The front and side skirts seem like easy installs.

So, if anyone has installed the new tails, let me know if removal of the rear bumper was necessary.

 

you need to remove bumper to install tails. you should have it done now. most guys on here didn't remove the entire bumper. they did one side at a time. but if your bumper is going to be off, just install tails.

 

how about replacing the turn signals?

 

I agree with gomezine. The rear bumper is easier to remove than the front bumper IMO.

I believe you can access the turn signals from behind the trunk liner.

 

Turn signals? You mean the marker lights? They don't acually blink when the signal is. At least I don't think they do. I've read on here to replace them you just need to undo trunk liner near the cargo net area to gain access to the markers.

 

Here are the mods should be done together to save yourself a lot of time:
Removing Rear Bumper:
* Install A-Spec Rear spoiler kit
* Install Type-S Rear Tail lights.
* Install Type-S Rear Side Markers.

OR
Removing Trunk Lining:
* Install DOM unit + backup Camera
* Install Type-S Rear Side Markers.

OR

Removing front Bumper:
* Clear/Backen Headlight (this i haven't done yet).
* AEM CAI

 

I agree, I am most likely going to have the a-spec rear installed and do the tails and markers while the area is accessible. I have a lot to think about. I'm thinking about having the shop paint the black areas of the a-spec NBP to go with my RRP. I don't know if it will look better than the normal material since I've never seen an a-spec kit up close. In pics some look like a matted black and other have a gloss look.

 

Can you please post a picture or diagram on how to remove the rear bumper? Thank you.
