Do YOU have splash guards on your TL???? POLL
Do YOU have splash guards on your TL? Anyone recommend them, or not recommend them?
I've read that some say they will scratch the cars paint so put electrical tape under them, and then there are others who have taken them off, or installed them on their own.
I purchased my TL brand new last week and didn't get the splash guards.

my TL type S came with the splash guard, the dealer didn't bother to take them off as i said i do not want to pay for any extra accessories. I also got the all season trunk mat as well.

I didn't get them and got the all season floor mats instead. Now I am wondering if I should add the painted splash guards on to my ride for protection. I live in the North East so we get a fair share of salt, sand, and rocks on the road as the winter hits and is still around for about a month or so.

I like splash guards they keep some crap off the low body sills and back lower bumper. That said I have hated the black unpainted ones, on my lates TL-S I got the painted one to match the car, looks cleaner. I do prefer Infiniti's splash guards better, less obvious factory install body color matched, although I suspect less effective.

I run them in the winter months with tape under them .. I also made extenders for them for more protection .. I'm not after looks in the winter ..after protection.
Easy on/off with a short Phillips .. easier yet with the wheels off.

I have them on my Type S. They look good and are of particular help if you use tire shine on your tires. They keep alot of the overspray off your lower sills of the car.

If you use a water based product and let it dry you don't get that ..

I have them on my NBP TL. They blend into the black. What i should have gotten was a clear bra. i have so many rock chips, i'm thinking of having the car repainted white.

bought my car used... the car used to have them on, but the previous owner kept them for some reason. They left a deep scratch line right where the edge was against the car... looks terrible. i was thinking of getting them again just to make those gross scratches "disappear".

If ur not gettin' the A-Spec kit then i'd get the painted ones.
When I installed the A-Spec kit there were some disappointing scratches and discoloration that luckily got covered up by the kit.
My car is only two years old and seeing the residue and discoloration made me think twice about debadging anything.

Mine are the unpainted black ones, which look fine with my SSM (predecessor to ASM) finish. The guards seem to keep the sill areas much cleaner, compared to cars I've seen without them. I've never had a Japanese-brand car without them- maybe it's a California car dealer practice to include splash guards as no-cost options.

I think they look great on our WDP, so i think you should get them. They served me good so far, blocked alot of rocks and dirts.

I got the unpainted ones for my Polished Metal Metalic (ASM?) and I think that if you aren't planning on adding the A-Spec kit it adds a little more to the look of the car. I mainly got them for protecting against all of the dirt and build up from the tires. Before I put them on I was always getting lots of crap splashed on the lower sides of the car. Much better now!

def get them if ur not doing the kit..... they give the car a fuller look....imo... but then again when it comes time to clean em....have fun... they love collecting shit....so does the kit but not half as much.

The 04 I just traded had them. They were installed by the dealer with the protection package and I didn't have a choice but I refused to pay extra for them. They were ok as far as protection went but ultimately I think they detracted from the car's appearance. My new 08 doesn't have them and the car looks better without them. They weren't worth the effort or difference to transfer them from one car to the other. I don't miss them at all. FWIW

I like them and thought about putting them on my tls, but the aspec kit is in near future and no point of having them if I'm gonna get aspec. Cant put both on the car at the same time...lol

The poll so far has about a 50/50 split on if people have them, or don't.

Mines came black.. preinstalled by the previous owner. It's okay---sucks having them in winter, here, though... because it likes to build up snow as you drive. Eventually snow will be rubbing against the tires. Sucks.

This is off-topic, but I couldn't figure out how to use this image in a fresh thread.
This rear view reminds me of the first time i was in another car following behind my TL
I saw that spot in the middle underside of the car below the cut-out and thought I had backed over something, pulled forward, and bent that panel piece.
You see where I'm talking about?
Actually had the driver pull over so I could get a closer look.....
How crazy is it they would make something that looks like it's been damaged?
Maybe they did it so people would buy the aspec kit? to cover ir up?
