Acknowledging other TL'ers

Yeah, I would like to have an Acurazine sticker on the car too. I wear my Acurazine cap once in a while but it can't really be seen. Otherwise Here in Northern NJ I also note that most drivers are older and/or housewifish (not that there's anything wrong with either...) and look like they should be driving a Buick or a Mercury. They don't seem like people that really enjoy our sporty cars. I'm always watching my speed as I always feel the "need" to drive fast in my TL. I always wonder how they ended up in an Acura dealership?

One of the mods on AZ sent me a sticker for the window. I put it on and had to move it when i got my college thing for the window. It would not stick back on... I would need another in order to use it

There are at least 3 3G TLs I pass on the way to work every morning and I felt compelled to wave or flash my lights at them, but I never do. They're all older women and they'd probably wonder WTF, but I'll do it tomorrow to see what they'll do. And when I see other TLs next to me, I'm too busy looking at their brake calipers than the drivers.

MAN that happened to me too. I was riding beside this TL and said "That's a sexy car you got there man." He just looked at me like I had just smoked crack. Out of the very many times I have acknowledged a TL, only twice have I recieved something in return. Once I was behind an NBP and flashed by beams twice, he did a double brake tap. The second time I pulled beside an A Spec WDP in the high end of 2nd, cruised at 5 grand for about 8 seconds then matted it. He pulled beside me soon after, told me he liked my car and asked if it was a 6M which it was not. I still try whever I see a fellow 3G, and although I dont acknowledge the 2G's, I still pay them their brotherly respects. Good times.

I always try and see if the other driver's lookin my way so I could give'm a thumbs up or something. Most of the drivers around SoCal are pretty stuck up with a mentality of "my car's cooler than your's" attitude. Dude, we've got the same car! I don't get it.

Adobe: I'm with you, as first thing that I look for are black calipers, to see if the other person is enjoying their TL as much as I am. And, same as you, I usually come up disappointed, usually finding grey calipers.

Here in the DC area, TLs are all over. And I work right across the street from an Acura dealer, so that may explain some of it.

I always try to make eye contact, but never much luck.

No mods. Pure stock. I'm not in for all the goodies, just a good, quality ride. Maybe tint to go with my ABP. I'm across from Rosenthal in Gaithersburg. I see at least 4-5 a day. It's a good thing!

I counted 5 TL's today.... zero black calipers, other than mine

I have started to get a kick out of waving - no return waves yet.... I picked up the habit on the Ducati... (why oh why did I sell it? Ha...) Motorcycle riders always get a head bob...

I do it often in Las Vegas.
But in Las Vegas of the owners are older people.
And they are a little stuffy and cold.

Unlike Cali where there are more younger or hip cool people.

I think the whole waving to other owners of the same mass-produced car thing is completely played out.

I think it is fun.... I like the sense of community on the board- it is the same thing really- waving at a fellow TL'er.. even if no one has waved back- I still enjoy looking like a bit of a loon , happily waving at somone- who is looking at me like'what the heck is wrong with that guy?'

We're not talking about the Impala, or the Camry, which see production numbers in the neighborhood of 300,000-400,000 annually.

The TL is mass-produced, but it's not THAT common. Besides, how often do you see Impala or Camry meets?

I agree. Are there any cool Acurazine window decals or emblems or anything? Kind of like mac users that have the apple in their windows. We need an Az or something subtle but recognizable among other AZ people. What ya think?

lets get some decrete stickers to acknowledge eachother.

Most Tl owners I see are way to old to give a sh*t so I never give or get a wave. I stopped to talk to some guy at a gas station once but I could tell he was not a car guy and couldn't care less about what he was driving as long as it looked good.

I went to the gas station yesterday and there was a Blue TSX with navi. He had it nice and clean and he was on his black RAZR while pumping. Im thinking to myself "This guy knows and likes his stuff". He hung up and I said nice car. He says to me "yea" and gets in his car and floors it. I was like wow what a douche.

Acura sold well over 100,000 of the 3G TL in its first two years and as I understand it sales are not slowing down; it's not a rarity by any means.

I see several of them every day on my way to and from work, and there are 4 others in my parking garage at work - there are probably more in the three other parking garage levels that I don't park in.

Face it, we have a really nice but fairly common car. If you get a new Z06, then you should wave to the others.

Talking

I personally don't like it when someone comments on my car...I don't know how to react w/o seeming too full of pride....I might come across as a snoby person!

Just other day these guys in a vw passatt waived me down....they were debating how much my car was...the driver said 45K and the passenger was saying 50K...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Yeah, saw one today. Beautiful. 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, 198 MPH top speed. And at ~$66K, best performance bang-for-the-buck out there.

Back on topic...

I just had a first last night. I was driving home from work on I-480 east when I saw an anthracite TL with a youngish dude in the next lane. We passed one another in heavy traffic until we got onto the 480-271 spur, where I usually get into the fast lane and blow by folks at 80 mph or so (lighter traffic). Pass the anthracite and the guy keeps up for a while.

We merge onto 271 south and there's ANOTHER TL, an SSM, in the passing lane. So we're a TL per lane (total 3 TLs now) for a little while until I have to switch lanes to get off at my exit and the SSM speeds off in the fast lane. No one waves, I guess we're all to busy keeping on the slightly wet pavement, but that's OK. Any of those guys here?

There's no accounting for good taste, I guess. Can't wait to distinguish mine from the rest (see mod list below).

When I see another TL, I look for brembo front brakes (manual trans).
I hardly ever see one.

All I look for is filthy front wheels . Much easier to spot. I've seen two confirmed manuals in the wild, and I've seen a lot of TLs.

When ever Iam driving, I look at other tl's but they are never looking back. But I did see one that gave me a hello, and I replied. One time I went to work out at Lifetime fitness (a gym right by my house), I always park backwards and all the way in the back. When I came out there was another tl that parked the same way, which was pretty cool.

I have noticed that the other tl drivers are women and older men.
