Of the 3 styles, I prefer Type-S > '04 - '06 > '07/'08 Base.

07-08s are by far my preference and are one of my favorite mods I've done. Just is a fresher look. Not like you haven't seen them, but just to remind you and to whore my ass...
Mine are not OEM, they're DEPOs. I personally think the red in these has a darker hue to it than the OEM ones, which I like.

anyone who owns a 04-06 will say 04-06
anyone who owns a type-s will say a type-s
anyone who owns a 07-08 will say 07-08
that being said, i like my 08 base tails.
early model tails are too red for my taste. i have yet to see one person with correctly modified 04-06 tails that look good. when i say correctly modified i mean actually opening them up and doing custom work, not just putting vinyl tint or spray tint on the outside of the tail light lense.
imo 07-08 type-s / base tails look better, and can be modified to look even greater.
theres a reason why 04-06 tails sell for so cheap compared to type-s or 07-08 base tails.

Honestly I think it depends on the color of the car…not sure about anything but NBP, but I like the contrast of the UA6 tails. I'm thinking about upgrading to UA7 base ones, because one of mine is chipped anyways.

UA6 and UA7 are chassis codes, not engine codes lol
UA6 is 04-08 Base (3.2L) TL - Uses J32 engine
UA7 is 07/08 Type-S (3.5L) TL - Uses J35 engine

I have the all red tails. I prefer the 07-08 base with the white. Im actually still hunting around for a nice deal
Personally, i cant stand the type-s tailights with the chrome. also, its played out, especially everyone with their base tl's rocking tl-s tails... not to mention depo tl-s tails r ugly

On a blue car the 07-08 tails make the car have a 3 tone appearance. Too much going on. I dont plan on changing to the 07-08 base.

For me it depends on the color of the car. I think the base ones look good on the darker colored vehicles and the Type S ones look better on the lighter colored vehicles.
