Disconnect tape player to hook up ipod-like device??

Disconnect tape player to hook up ipod-like device??
I know this was talked about in another thread...I use my tape player to connect my mp3 harddrive player...I would imagine you could just run some RCA jacks from the tape player input and have it function as an AUX in....has anyone considered or tried this?
