Disappointed with the TL board
Disappointed with the TL board
The thread I had just got locked down along with comments about how I should learn to use the search feature. The thread was about the adjusted horsepower ratings for the 06 TL. First off, I did search!! I typed "258" into the title line and nothing came up. You're nuts if you think Im searching 10 different keywords just to see if I wrote something that has already been said. Plus you can only search once every 60 seconds, which is reason alone to search less.
Theres no quicker way to kill a chat than some junkies that read this 24/7 and do nothing but look for duplicates all day. Whether you believe it or not, its really ALL been said before!!

Posts: 211 For the 2006 model year, all Acura horsepower and torque specifications have been updated to reflect revised Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J1349 (Rev 8/04) net calculations that went into effect in January of 2005. These new calculations reflect a number of significant changes in the way horsepower and torque are measured and may cause SAE net horsepower and torque totals published in 2006 media materials to differ from the figures published in previous years. To avoid confusion, all 2006 Acura press materials will specify “SAE net (Rev 8/04”) after all horsepower and torque figures to denote adherence to the new standards. "
no change to car, just change to how measured
found this w/ a search of the word "horsepower"

I totally agree with you... Its selfish of people who think just because they read about the subject before, it shouldn't be brought up again.. Its like they see the thread subject and think 'yah i read about that a month ago' and they could just skip over it. Instead, they would rather try and embarass you publically by saying its been discussed already... Board Warriors
Rod I think you are takin it the wrong way. Yes the first few posts didnt need to be there. But I posted you a link and Ron A closed the thread because your question was answered. If you wanted to discuss the topic Im sure you couldve just bumped that thread I posted for you. I will agree that there are people who constantly promote the search button. I on the other hand found it easier to post the link to the thread rather than explain it.

trancemission, obviously its not you I was referring to, you helped and I thank you!! Its just the "search" nazis I was annoyed at.
I have some other questions about my TL that I want to discuss, but I hesitate to write due to the duplicate factor. Is a repost really that bad?? I know its annoying when the same ones happen all the time, but even then you just move right along to the next one. Why take the time to be negative and nasty??
This happens to be one of several threads that we close and refer to the already existing thread. We also did the same thing with all the threads that popped up about gas prices.
You can look through the forum and see many threads with similar topics that we don't close and refer to another thread, because these threads have topics with a semblance of individuality, but the 258 horsepower threads are all similar, with the poster asking the question, and then being referred to the larger existing thread with all the answers in it.
This is the standard reference I post when closing a thread on this subject, but I didn't use it this time because trancemission had already given the reference. I have used this many times because the subject keeps cropping up, and it is not intended to stifle your creativity or single you out individually.
This collects all the posts on this topic in one thread and eliminates the proliferation of the numerous threads that have been started on this subject.
We agree the
reference should be used judiciously, because it sometimes offends the newcomer and the experienced poster alike, but we try to use it as an informational and not a critical reference.

Please learn how 270 became 258 in the big TL hp change for 2006 thread. This thread is now

RON A is right.....its fine if someone posts the reference thread and then closes the thread but its not okay to close the thread and just bitch and moan thats just wrong
this is whats scaring people away from the forum. ive noticed that the rate of posting has slowed down on the forum.....drastically because theres just not enough to be answered anymore...its either everyone is figuring things out...or people are just leaving the forums...
