Dilemma!

call me crazy but...

I think I want to trade in my 04 TL for a 2006 A3....

Is it worth it? THat car just looks so good and even though I haven't test driven it I have read about it and it got rave reviews on handling and performance. That DSG gearbox is also tempting!

Suggestions? I'm not really sure what to do since my dad said it's up to me.

If you don't mind having a smaller car I would say go for it. This car looks like a gem and germans never skimp on quality and performance. I saw one today driving down the street and it looked very attractive.
However be aware that you will not get all gadgets you'd normally get on TL unless you pay big bucks.
Regardless of what you will select, make sure you go for a long enough drive test before you sign on dotted line.

I don like the way it looks. Hatchback/wagonish. But the DSG almost makes it worth it, which you must get by the way.

As I picked up my TL last Friday, I saw one on the road. It was interesting but too much of an extended hatch back for my tastes.

Sure they don't! Checked any dependability and/or reliability studies on the Germans in the past, oh, 6 or 7 years?

German Quality?

My sister owned a 98 Jetta and she bought it brand new. POS and the dealership was not very friendly with helping on warranty issues. I hope that people on this website will stop bitching about the TL and move on in life. No car is perfect and in my opinon for the money, you cannot beat the options on the TL. If I read this website and was looking at getting a TL, I would get another vehicle. Yes, it is a mechanical machine that it is built and designed by humans and machines.....it is not going to perfect.......

don't know about you guys, but i've read magazines about which cars make the best/worst used cars. the whole AUDI lineup is in the bad used cars section, all the way from A4 to A8, which includes the S4. pretty crazy. so once the 4 year free maintance is up, go sell it, or just lease. i love audi's, but wouldn't put my $30,000 into it.

When I said quality I meant quality of materials used to build high end cars like Audi, BMW and MB.
Reliability is a different issue and is not part of this discussion.
Oh, BTW just so you know JD power placed BMW on the second place (way ahead Acura) regarding overall quality.

This is the second time I heard someone call that piece of shit good looking. I know taste is subjective but someone must get smashed in the face with the shitty taste branch to think that thing looks good.

Never skimp on quality? LOL

I had a VW/Audi A4 and rid myself of it under the lemon law. Biggest POS ever (thankfully my TL is merely poor assembly with all the rattles it has...knock on wood). Warned my sister about purchasing a VW Passat. She didn't listen. She would visit the shop at least once a month. Car would stall and sputter constantly. She traded that POS in right quick. VW/Audi products....wouldn't buy anything from them.

i don't think vw owns audi... i think it's still 50/50.

Audi has been a division of VW since the end of WW2. Audi has not been an independent company since German AutoUnion was formed in the thirties.

Quality and Audi are rarely used in the same sentence.

Would that be initial quality? Thought so.

Ever been in a Mercedes or BMW that's a couple of years old? Press on ANYTHING and it squeaks. Everything feels cheap and brittle, and the same can be said for VW - the only car company I truly hate.

Only hate VW, what about hyaindi and kia, well I guess there isnt much to break in them, but they still manage to eat timing belts with there "elegantly simple" solid rear axles.
