Is their any difference between Abyss Blue Pearl and Royal Blue Pearl,, Abyss Blue Pearl was offered on 04-05 TL's and Royal Blue Pearl is offered for 06-07 TL's. I went thru the picture thread in this forum and i honestly can't see any difference between the 2 colors, of course every pic is slightly different because not everyone uses the same camera or settings when they take pics of their cars. Reason i'm asking this is because i need to get a new rear bumper, and new aspec rear,,, if i can upgrade to the 07 style bumper already painted to match, then i'm in!

 

bumpers from the dealer do not come pre painted , only the a spec kit does

 

i had the same problem prior, It was between the Satin Silver Metalic & Alabaster Silver Metalic. Don't know why honda is so complicated and precise with their colors.

 

Royal blue is slightly darker, and alabaster has less of a blue tint to it than SSM..

 

Yes there is a difference. Honda has trouble making the same color parts match on one car. I would not purchase a different named color part and expect a match.

 

My theory is Acura is so bad at matching paint as we know. Year to year it slowly evolves and then they forgot how they mixed the pigments and so they rename it.....lol

 

haha thanks for your replies guys as for the one guy who said you can't order bumpers painted to match,, theonlinebodyshop.com can send you any bumper painted to match, just give em your paint code and tell them what you need. oh maybe you meant painted to match from the dealer, yea that's true then.

 

If you do it that way It'll be guaranteed to be off. When a car is repainted, they use the color code as a start. They have to alter the paint that is being used slightly to make it look right since you have weathered paint on the rest of your car.

 

As far as ASM & SSM go, SSM was strictly an Acura color. In 06 Acura dropped their silver and went with the silver that was being used on the Honda lineup (ASM). I would assume that the same applies with the 2 blues, ABP was probably strictly an Acura color.
In 06, they just decided to go with the Honda colors.
