Did you see this?

"big mistake"2005 Acura TL 6-Spd MT w/ Navigation System05/08/2006By: bettyOwned: 1 yearReview ID: #4915444.0Overall Rating10Styling5Performance8Interior1Quality1RecommendationPros:I love the power but in all honesty it is too much for the US unless you don't care about tickets. It's a hot looking car and the navi and radio are great.Cons:The car jerks whenever you hit a bump, it's very dangerous. Also, I was driving down a road and hit a pothole and the airbags exploded! I have to say that I do not feel safe in this car anymore and am going to sell it. Acura says that this is normal and did not cover it under warranty because they say that a pothole is cause enough for the bags to explode and (this is the dealers fault-Springfield Acura) it took 5 weeks to fix, which is utterly ridiculous. Regarding the dealership, they were utterly incompetent and unprofessional. I do NOT recommend them, Springfield Acura in NJ.Overall Review:I did a lot of research when car hunting and bought this car due to all of its positive write-ups and because my brother had an acura and it was an excellent car. Up until the airbags exploded I was content with the car except for the fact that when you hit a bump it jerks hard. but now I cannot feel safe or comfortable driving a vehicle not knowing when the airbags are going to blow. Also, the when I hit the pothole I was going at most 20 mph so...I really don't know how that is justified but whatever...good luck.

what do you guys think? airbags exploding from hitting pothole?? found this on msn auto reviews

Must have been a nasty pothole. It's entirely possible at 20 mph. Same goes for hitting a speed bump or curb too fast.

Meh....one ladies opinion. No biggie. I can tell you I have run through a pothole at over 20mph....and a good sized one I couldnt avoid at the time whatsoever. All it did, other than a HUGE bam, was bent a rim.....which I replaced at my own expense as I expected to do.

Sounds reasonable. I would imagine the pothole was a large one that allowed this to happen. Of course, it could have just been a defective sensor, which happens now and then as well. That would definitely be a rude awakening, though. I'd probably sell the car as well after being traumatized like that.

if that happened to me i think i would sell too . 5 weeks and cuz of a pothole, airbags exploded. then again everybody drives differently so if they were driving the car like if it was a 91 accord, i completely understand.

She probably *thinks* she was going 20mph - probably more like 35 or 40.

I've hit a couple of bumps pretty solid (one pot hole bent a rim) and the air bags, of course, did not deploy.

Less of an air bag problem and more of an air head problem, imo.

I can't believe that the air bags goes off that easy? I though air bags sensors are only in the bumbers and the sides?

the airbags work on many senors, not only in the bumper, they are pretty much all over the car. they take into account the force of impact, speed difference(example: 50 down to 30), and angle of impact. i really dont think the airbag will go off if you just hit a pothole, unless the pothole is 5" deep and it greatly reduces your speed after you hit it. also the airbags will deploy as low as 10 miles per hour if the angle of impact is bad(your grill hitting object, not the bumper)

that's bs. she had to have been doing something else that she's not telling.

Also, I drive my car HARD! I have hit HUGE!!!!!! Dips, bumps, potholes, speed tables, and my personal favorite, parking garage ramps at about 50-60. My car still runs perfect, and certainly never deployed an airbag.

If you believe that, you fit the profile to own a Mercedes C-class sedan.

Either a defective sensor, the "pothole" was huge and her bumper struck road surface or a made-up story for the "review."

The pulling over bumps could have been an alignment issue. She's not very car-smart to say things so idiotic. The way she's going over speed bumps, she probably threw her alignment out of specs or she bent a few components, thus leading to jerks over bumps. What an imbecile.
