Did I upgrade or downgrade?

So I just traded in my 07 GG Civic SI for an 05 Acura TL. I personally think I upgraded my car as I want to get into the luxury scene.. but the SI was DAMN FUN to drive. What do you guys think?

I'd say that was an upgrade. Yes the SI is fun to drive but the TL offers more in my opinion. Enjoy it....

its an upgrade, but just know that the aftermarket parts scene isn't very big for the TL as no JDM model exists. The TL is a fun car and you'll enjoy it and love it! Congrats and welcome

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm not a total newb when it comes to the Acura Tl... cause i've borrowed my friends TL-S before. Performance wise in a straight line the TL feels a lot faster! And I'm loving the huge change in TQ.. one of the biggest factors in changing my car. Anyway I don`t plan on doing much to the car, maybe just wheels, tint and basic power upgrades. But besides that this forum seems like a great community to obtain info for the Acura.

Talk to you guys soon!

I`m from Canada.

Nice upgrade for sure. But let's talk again in 6
months and what you "haven't" done to your TL.

Upgrade for sure. Only thing I miss about my old car was revving to 8000 on the twisties. Loved how you could hold it out in turns and tight straights.

When I was looking for the TL, I came across a Civic si for 28k in the showroom of a honda dealer. It was slightly used, but cmon, 28k? Ridiculous. Upgrade, depending on the condition of your car though.

Welcome to AZ!

The TL could be fun too drive also! Just get a RSB and Tein SS with Damper Control and it should be a lot better Add that with the full exhaust system (j pipe, precats, 3rd cat deletes, and catback) after 4k worth of stuff, youll be happy

Where abouts in Canada are you?

I drove my sisters CSX from time to time and i was fun to drive, great handling too!
But when it comes down to it, i feel the csx/civic cant compare to the tl.
That being said, definately an upgrade!

28K ? lol I paid 29000 for mine.. then options add another 4600... but it was fun while it lasted.

My TL is in mint shape minus a missing rear console pocket.. but yeah im excited for next summer as i never modified a luxury car before.. well i hope i dont spend too much but i probaly will.

and 04komodo - I'm from edmonton so we have bad winters here..

Omfg you sold ur ITR for an SI... You should be banned from automotive forums!
I hope you didn't overkill mod it I think those come near perfect from the factory. I used to see a yellow one with a real crappy lower suspension which made it bounce none stop. Made me wanna cry and slap the owner at the same time.

As far as the Si to TL ya I'd say u upgraded. Enjoy your new ride.

lol, yeah, it was an upgrade. TL is more civil and less "fun". You probably should have gone for a 1st gen TSX if you wanted fun to drive in a lux car :P. But the TL is the perfect entry into the lux car scene

HAHA.. it was a 97 ITR - the most rarest year. The mod list
Exterior
-seibon mugen style CF front lip
-Seibon- Cf hood with vents
-8000k Hids

Interior
-Sparco steering wheel
-Spoon shift knob
-Apexi Vafc
-2 -10 inch subs, 2 amps, Panasonic speakers all around, Head unit
-Some other minor interior parts

Engine
-Spoon exhaust
-AEM cai
-Skunk2 cams stage 1
-B&M fuel pressure regulator
-Koyo rad
-Spoon ITB
-Exedy clutch stg 1

Suspension
-D2 coilovers
-stock wheel with Falken-rt615 tires
-Front strut bar

Thats all I can remember now..wish I had pics but im an idiot for not taking them

Yah it kinda feels good when someone or hot chick asks what you drive.. and instead of saying civic " sounds kinda cheap and embarassing" u say an ACURA TL . LOL

TL doesn't feel as tossable around the turns and the dynamics aren't as good but check out actual performance numbers like skidpad, slalom, and braking and you may be surprised. Small cars always feel like they handle better.

IMO, huge upgrade.

si vs tl..thats a tough one. my best friend has an 08 si and I have an 08 tl. Luxury wise the TL wins but on sportiness, definitely the si. Now a tl type s would be the best of both worlds!!!!

07 Si to 05 TL 5AT = downgrade
07 Si to 05 TL 6MT = upgrade
