Hey guys, so i got into a little accident yesterday and got my front end swiped off. No one was injured in the accident thank god. Now i need a new front end and want to change things up a little. Im debating on getting either the type-s aspec lip or the 07-08 base aspec lip.. so please help!




For those who dont know the difference between the 2, here are examples to help:

What's the debate? Replace what you had (base aspec) or get the type s..You say you want to change it up, so from that standpoint..I say type s.

 

I would get the 07 08 base, it looks much cleaner. One thing to keep in mind, you will need to purchase new fogs for either set up you decide to go with.

Type-S

 

sorry for any confusion, i'm getting a type-s front bumper, but debating on which A-Spec lip to get. From my understanding, there is 2 lips for the 07-08 models. The more aggressive looking one ( the 1st picture posted ) or the more less-aggressive looking one ( 2nd pic )

I see, I thought you were proposing the idea of either a base set up (base bumper base aspec lip) or a type-s set up (type s bumper type s lip)

 

You're better off getting the bumper and lip for the same model trim. You would have to get the 07-08 base lip trimmed to mate to the TL-S bumper, smoothed out, re-painted. The 07-08 base lip doesn't fit without modification on the TL-S bumper, it bolts right on to the 07-08 base bumper though.

Looks like you have AM. You'll have to paint the 07-08 lip either way, doesn't come in AM from the factory for TL-S or Base.

 

i would just get the 04-06 bumper and lip, or option C "other"

I would go with the 07-08 Base lip over the Type-S, but I like the 04-06 lip more than both of them.

 

I love the Type-S lip, looks aggressive as fuck.

 

lol @ the poll being 50/50 - the type S lip for sure, much more aggressive

 

I like the base lip because it looks more flush. The type-s, i don't like the center it doesn't look flush with the bumper.

close call.. totally forgot the base aspec will not fit the type-s bumper because the fog lights are shaped differently. looks like my final verdict is a 07-08 BASE front bumper paired with 07-08 Base lip.

Car is in the shop atm and will update this thread once there is some progress!

Absolutely RonJon! If you can't afford it, go with the Base Aspec. The Type S gives your nose the "bubble-eye fish" look-too bulky, plus you lose the clean lines of your TL.

 

If you are looking for a more aggressive look, I would go with RonJon's full front bumper replacement

 

man dont forget if you get any 07-08 bumper base or type-s you will need a new center grill as they are bigger on the 07-08 models, and like you said the base bumper and type s bumper both have different fog grills aswell.

IMO just order what you had 04-06 bumper with the 04-06 a spec lip

Yes, the type s grill will fit with the 07-08 base bumper. The lower fog grills will not though.

 

or you could go custom and get a different bumper other than the type s or base ones.
