Dealership took my car for a joy ride ?
I picked up a 2007 TL S in march - went carbon bronze pearl with Taupe - absolutely love it but i think that the dealership took my car for a joy ride.
When i bought the car and was ready to drive off, i noticed that the paint was slightly scraped on the rear bumper where the lense cover slide over the bumper. The dealer said that I could drop off the car and hey wouldtouch it up so that it would not be noticeable. I dropped the car off on a Tuesday and they called me Friday saying that they wanted to keep the car for the weekend to make sure the paint dried. i said no problem.
Fast Forward to 4 weeks later and I am out to dinner with my wife and she starts playing with the navigation system and hits previous destinations and a restaurant called "Green Parrot Cafe" pops up a a previous destination. i tell her that I have never heard of the restaurant. We get home and she googles te restaurant and it a romantic couple's restaurant. she asks who i took there. I honestly never even heard of therestaurant and it about 25 miles from home and work and the dealership. She is convinced that i am having an affair and that i went to the restaurant because iit is logged into the navi as a previous destination. i asked the dealership for all paperwork showing miles in and miles out and everything looked normal.. I never verified the mileage in/out myself because i do not expect this sort of thing to happen. The car had 6 miles on it when i bought it. No one ever test drive it other than myself
Does anyone have any clue how a restaurant would get entered into the navi "previous destinations" ? i have never driven anywhere near the restaurant so it did not show up by default. I can only guess when it was being serviced that someone took it out.
sorry for the long first post...

just because it is listed under prev destin doesn't mean the car actual went to the location.
It only means the location was entered into the nav.
I have entered a found a location in the nav the nite b4 a trip. So the nxt am I can just pull it up in prev destin w/o the delay of trying to find it.

hm...that is a bit fishy. maybe they were...testing your navi? acura does DO an inspection of everything, each time the car's brought in...but still it seems a bit of a stretch. your previous destination should be clean...
GOOD LUCK!

Loving my 08 TLS!
The service people might just enter the address to see how far is the place is in your navi. Once entered it will be in your previous destinations points. As far as the situation with your wife, you are on your own.

It's possible that the dealership, during pre-delivery inspection, typed in that restaurant and mapped it out to test the Navi but never really traveled to it. I know mine had a previous destination that I never went to as well, which I saw just as I was driving home. I think the system logs these every time a destination is mapped out. Or potentially a customer that looked at the car did it prior to your purchase.
Great color combo by the way

did you ever ck under the prev destin b4?
b4 the car was sold - a customer playing w/ the nav could have entered it

Thanks - All reasons sound like reasonable scenarios... Acura was not sure either. I had never checked the previous destinations before.

Perhaps a salesman demo'd the Navi to a customer in your car?
Oh and tell your wife to get a clue

I agree with everyone on the previous destination.
I think that would be your best bet to (dis)prove anything.

Very Fishy! I read a few other people saying things like this happened th them. NOW I write down the mileage for everything. I dropped mine off monday to get a KEY job on my passenger side painted $1,100. I asked the service person to make sure the car doesn't go on any joy rides, and the entire car is perfect except for the KEY scratches. She laughed and said no joy rides. I laughed and said OK. That way she kind of knows I checked the mileage before I left it. SO SAD!

Not posting on your question....
But, if your wife really believes you are having an affair only because something was in a NAV system.... you have a lot more problems than if they took your car for a joy ride... there has to be something else there...

I knew that I opened a can of worms with the blurb on my wife
I enjoy the ridicule - nothing that already hadn't entered my mind.
no discrepancy on the odometer. I am guessing it was entered as a demonstration, perhaps even by own my sales guy showing me.
