Dealership playing shady!
Dealership playing shady!
I have a 07 TL-S. Recently it had been chewing up tires and I got it checked out for that. It was also drifting towards the curb. Initially when I went in they told me to first get the tires changed so that they could exclude the tires (and I needed new ones anyways). After that they tried to get an alignment done. The rear passenger control arm was found to be "frozen" and required replacement. I have extended warranty on the car and I had asked them if that part was covered and they said no. I went ahead and got the repairs done anyways as I had a long trip coming up. Later on I was at the dealership talking with the guy who had initially sold me that policy and mentioned that this part was not covered and he said that is weird as to his knowledge that part was covered by the extended warranty. I called Acura client services and they agreed that the part was covered and went ahead and processed my claim and informed me of a refund. Today I got a refund but it is only for 1/3rd of the amount that I paid at the dealership. I called them back and they told me that they only reimburse at wholesale price and at the price that they would have reimbursed the dealership. So essentially I paid 900 and got reimbursed 272. I am super pissed that the dealership firstly, misinformed me that the repair was not covered and then went ahead and charged me 3 times more than what they would have gotten had they filed a warranty claim. I feel that they did this to get more money out of the repair. I just got off the phone with the head honcho in the service department and he started telling me stories of how the part is not covered if that bolt was rusted and corroded and how acura may not reimburse extra work if they had to cut the part. Anyone with a similar experience? Any advice?
Wow My 06 TL Kept Drifting To The Right, Called The Dealership They Do Third Party Repair So they took my car to I Beleive Mr. Goodtire or something of that nature. After I Got the Alignment It Was Smooth Sailing
seem like this isn't the first time people having trouble with extended warranty with dealer, some one on here bought a CPO from dealer with extended warranty and later on found out that Acura dealer claim its illegal to have two warranty at the same time so therefore the extended warranty is invalid. Seem like alot of them playing shady now these day, I am glad that I didn't bite into the extended warranty when I bought the car. Oh BTW I spend no where near $1000 so far in repair bill, so far NOT buying extended warranty is working out perfect for me.
If you paid by credit card, you may be fine. File a claim. They will get your money back.
I had a similar issue with a dealer repair (not Acura). Factory part warranty 1year, but same thing broke in less than 1 month after the dealer repair. Went back to dealer. They gave me the excuse of "special order" parts not covered. Only "in stock" parts are covered. Anyhow, didn't waste my time to fight. Called credit card company and got my money back.

That sucks, but you should maybe mention what dealer your having a hard time with.
I have had nothing but positive experiences by going to my local acura dealer. Bought my car CPO and with extended warranty and it's already paid for itself. New Nav Unit in the trunk, new Nav disc and they replaced the gas door cable since it was freezing up and would not close.
I've spent around 1600 dollars in total at the dealer and it was all covered. I felt bad and used the parts department to buy some new floor mats and a air filter and cabin filter which I installed myself (needed them anyway lol).

I have usually had good luck with extended warranties on my previous cars and have used the warranty at least once on this car. I am dealing with Woodfield Muller's Acura in Hoffman estates, IL. There are some slimy service folks at this dealership.
Regarding the credit card: this had happened about a month ago, do you guys think the CC company will still reimburse me?
Also on what basis do I file a fraudulent charge on my CC? I mean the dealership has records of my authorization of the repair and also has records of my name and address attached to that vehicle's service record. Don't the CC folks look into all this before approving a reimbursement?
The dealership itself is a mixed bag as their sales people are stellar. Probably the best that I have dealt with (the new car guys, not the used car).

stay away from the stealership , they are there to rape your pockets dry find a ase certified mechanic , my mechanic dwn the street is ase certified and a former acura dealership mechanic, nuff said
I've used Muller's before, but only for the power steering hose recall I think. No issues there obviously.
I like Continental Acura in Naperville, bought my 05 TL there and have nothing but good things to say about it.
Napleton Acura, where I bought my CPO TL-S from, I wouldn't ever go back to though.

Even if you "approved" the charge you can still dispute it. There are other things considered by the credit card company that they will reimburse for you. Like if you were to pay someone to perform work on your car and it was shotty work You can file a claim and get your money back. Or Like I did, Had a moving company move all my furniture and they damaged almost all of it. So I filed a claim and got all of my money back because they weren't working with me to fix it.
Each credit card company will be a little different, but I would say it is definitely worth looking into. I've done it before and mine was very helpful...and that was after almost 3 months of trying to work with a particular company. I would also file a complaint with Acura corporate about what the dealership did.
