Dealership experience

So, today I took my car in to get the notorious vsa, ! lights checked out as it came on randomly for the last 3 weeks now. And i must say that I had a pretty good experience at Langley Acura here in BC canada. They figured that it was the brake switch that had been triggering it. They also did a load test on my battery and deemed that it needed to be replaced. My car is originally from another province and they were not able to get the serial number for my radio so they can retrieve the code for me, as that dealership was closed for the long weekend here. They did some hold "1" and "6" thingee on the radio controls while the ignition was turned to the II position and then pressed the "power" button to try to get the serial number, but no luck. anyone know about this? they also charged me $80 for the brake switch plus .5hr labour ($60/hr).... does that seem right to you guys? how many didgits is the serial number? or the radio code for that matter? i tried finding some answers in the "garage" about the radio code issue (glove compartment etc..), but no luck also. any help is great!

For the radio code, open your glove box and look at the left side (outside the box). Should be a sticker there with the code on it.

Once you find the code you can save it here:

Radio code should be 5 digits, if it's not on the glove box, check the owner's manual or the battery tray, otherwise you need the serial # on the unit to get the code.. the price sounds right for a service shop.

My radio and navi code are written in the maintenance booklet, they wrote it in there when I bought the car.

Check yours, it might be in there to.

Hmmm, thanks for the help guys. I have a number on the left side of my glove box but it is more than 5 numbers... i am gonna contact the dealer, since there is no urgency to replace the battery although it does need to be replaced soon.

hmm.. could be 6.. if it is the correct tag the code is on top.. the bottom number on the tag is something else (serial #?)..

and the numbers will be in the range of 1-6 for the code so no 0,7,8, or 9 in the code.

That should be your code. If it is, your in luck. Don't forget to register it for safe keeping in the link I provided earlier in the thread. BTW you can put multiple vehicles in there too. And your Navi code if you have Navi....
