Dealer Proximity Problems - Need Advice

I'm considering purchasing a new TL within the next year. The closest dealers to me are about 2.5 hours away. The TL is my car of choice, but I'm very concerned about the dealer being so far away. Is anyone else in this situation? If so, what kinds of problems have you experienced with having the dealership far away? Where would I go for routine maintenance? There is a Honda dealer in town that said the most they could do on an Acura is oil changes. Would the Honda dealer be the best choice even for just oil changes? I'm assuming all warranty work would need to be done at the dealership. That would be a big inconvenience to have to drive 2.5 hours each way (5 total) every time I needed something fixed on the car. Any thoughts, opinions, or advice? Thanks!

Ben

That's the same problem I had when I wanted to look at Infiniti or Lexus, because of the 100 mile distance. But it wasn't much of a problem because I knew I wanted a TL, and the dealer is only 10 miles from my house, so the problem was solved.

I see lots of Infiniti and Lexus cars where I live, so I guess the distance doesn't bother some people, but you have to consider your personal preferences here. That's a long ways to drive for warranty work and possible recalls, so it is something to consider.

You can go anywhere you want for routine maintenance, or do it yourself. But warranty work, except for emergency repairs, must be done at an Acura dealer.

I have the same problem. The closest dealer is 1.5 hours away, and it's such a pain in the ass. I never get a loaner car. I wish I had really thought abou it before buying that car....but on the plus side, it's only been back once!! (knock on wood)

Thanks for the information so far! Does anyone else have any experience with this? Any additional advice or suggestions? I'd really like to get a TL, but is it really too difficult having the dealer 2 hours away?
