Day wasted: No TL

Went to go pick up a 06 WDP TL black interior and Nav thats about 3 hrs away from my house and come to find out my sales rep was a douche bag and lied about the car being mint.

The front and rear bumper was seriously discolored from the rest of the body. It was like peach/tan white vs the body being white. I couldnt believe he didnt tell me this on the phone. The pics were not zoomed in so it wasnt as noticeable as being in person, but between the interior scratches everywhere and the bumpers being off colored I said "No deal" and the dealer and me were both pissed.

I then proceeded to drive another 45 mins away to Davis acura, boy was I dissapointed. Every used TL and MDX they had needed serious reconditioning. All the sales rep said was, "If you buy the car then we will recondition it and you can drive back down to pick it up at a later date." WTF? Are you serious. I worked at dealerships before, you're supposed to buy the car, recondition it, then put it out for sale. These cars looked like @h!t and were priced as they were already reconditioned.

Anyway- So I lost money from calling off work today, 60.00 in gas, 40.00 for dinner out of state and a complete waste of my f-ing time plus 600+ miles on the wifes car.

Sorry Guys I really needed to just vent.

Screw Davis Acura and Metro Acura.

Sorry to hear about your waste of time. That really sucks.

The bumper discoloration is very common on TLs though. Still, I can see why you wouldn't want a car with mismatched paint.

I get service from Montgomeryville Acura and bought mine from Sussman. I can't really recommend Sussman as they are slow and flaky on many issues. You have to be persistent. Montgomeryville has been pleasant so far with my servicing.

I shopped at Davis Acura and their manager was an A-hole. Tried to tell me I was an idiot for not buying a TL in the color combo I wanted...

I got lucky and found mine at a private dealership and they were pretty cool. I guess it depends on location. You could always require some higher res or closeups. Usually thats what I do.

Well tonight I found a person selling a 06 SSM w/nav 33k miles and it looks very clean for only 19.5k.

The only gripe I can see there was a baby seat strapped in the back because I can see the indention of the lines with it removed. Not sure if that would come out over time.

Thats hella cheaper then the 24k OTD I was about to pay for a 44k mile TL.

That's a great deal. Don't pass it up. The indentations should come out over time.

$20 says the paint was factory.

I think Acura has made 4 1/2 WDP's with matching paint.

That's so frustrating man, I'm sorry to hear.

My local Acura dealership pisses me off as well. They never return phone calls and look down on me because I'm younger.

I hope you are able to stumble upon a TL soon. Good luck

Ouch, sorry to hear your unfortunate events. To me, I believe everything happens for a reason, lesson learned.

Ouch, ouch and ouch! Did I say ouch? Wow, what a waste of time and money. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. The color mismatch for WDP is very common. Mine is that way on the rear bumper. Kind of annoying but what can ya do short of having it repainted. Good luck on your search. Hope you find your dream TL soon.

Have you tried searching through private parties? I used autotrader to find my TL-S, the seller and I met half way, which was a 2 hr drive for both of us.

When I was car shopping I saw this sweet AV6 coupe, navi, 6MT.. it was perfect and sitting on the Jaguar lot a town away (2 hr drive). So I called up the dealer and talked to a salesman (lady). I asked her if they still had it and all the particulars, I verified with her that I was coming from up north and I would have to leave work early to go check it out.. she said "great!" it'll be here for you, my name is "I'm a fucking bitch" ask for me when you get down here. So I blow off my afternoon meeting & arrange for my gf to meet up with me to ride down after talking to the salelady 3 times that day.. I even called twice right before I left and during our ride down just to make sure they still had it but she didn't answer her cell.

After I roll into the dealer from driving through a thunderstorm (VSA lights flashing) in afternoon traffic, I go into the showroom and tell them I'm here to see the AV6 coupe.. the Manager informs me it was sold early in the morning, before my first call to the saleslady. I was fucking pissed.. I asked them where the salelady was who I talked to and they said she's outside with a customer. I blew my effing stack I walked out, got in her face and erupted with profanities even a sailor would be embarrassed by.. my gf seriously thought I was going to punch her lights out.. ugh.. in hindsight.. I should have. I'm still more pissed at her than the dealer who sold me the TL with a bad tranny and a POS ext. warranty that left me high and dry on the claim.. that was an ordeal itself but at least I saw that one coming.

sales staff are supposed to put their card on the windshield of a car they are working a deal on- so other staff can simply look and say- oh wait, let me see if thats still available
Some places use a large board with each car id on it-and whats happening with it in each step of the sale,,finance -detail- etc

Instead she probably looked at the daily inventory sheet and said yep its still here

Car sales staff are really hurting in this economy and will lie, I mean creative interpretation and telling of the truth even more than usual~
Once you are there- they will find you something!!
Their job is to sell whatever they have- get you on the property and you are buying something today

Reconditioning- again the economy- car should be basically cleaned and inspected for mandatory safety item condition like tires and brakes,
maybe not CPO certified yet but will pass that.
full detailing may wait- if a car doesnt sell in a certain time like 3 months, the dealer sends it off to the auction and cuts their losses
Any money they put in without a buyer actually paying for it in the sales price--thats cash out of their pocket- gone forever

Shop at places not hurting that bad!
Clean cars sell- too bad they lay off the low paid staff who wash the cars first!

Look in our own `Member Cars for sale` in the Off Topic link
Internet Sales with dealer- ask for more pics- detailed, speak with internet sales manager or regular sales manager on `lot cars`

As soon as you talk to a salesperson- they need to make their commission so add min$2500,,maybe way more if they can...you may be the only sale this week or even month
They have to make rent and food off of your sale----
deal direct and only with MANAGERS- their concern is total units sold..not individual sales profit
Buy on last day(s) of a month- when dealer wants to make one more sale for the books.
Contest abound in sales--incentives to motivate whats otherwise a pretty suck job

I live out in the country in northern PA. Davis acura and Metro Acura were the closest to me. The only one I have not been to was Montgomeryville Acura in PA and Paragon acura in NY, which is still a good 2.5 + hours of travel one way. The rest are in MD or OH.

I've searched constantly for over a mth now. Honestly there aren't very many private people selling there TL's, then again remember I'm budgeted to no more then 24k OTD.

Autolenders has 2 silver tl's w blk interior and nav around 38k miles for 21,995.00 I dont know much about them but they said all the vehicles they own are one owner off lease vechicles that had 150 point inspection on them.

For now im just gonna forget about a TL or any car for that matter. I will still look everyday online for a good deal though. It just sucks....

Funny you should mention Autolenders!! My girlfriend is from South Jersey and there is an Autolenders in the next town over from her....Autolenders is like a wannabe Carmax....They stock the vehicles that are popular at the moment and right now the 3rd gen TLs are a hit. Only problems with Autolenders is their prices are extremely high and they are non-negotiable. Personally, I am beginning to see less and less value of purchasing a vehicle from a used car dealership because I don't see them really providing a value added service. I would recommend that you keep looking though......You're looking to spend more than me though, so I'm rather certain we won't be bumping heads...what specifics are you looking for so I can send you some links if I come across any that may interest you....
