Threads like this make me wonder if the question being asked is legit. Most of modern day vehicles have the passenger airbag deploy in a perforated section under the dashboard that is designed to break open just as your drivers airbag is designed to function in an event of an airbag deployment. When the passenger airbag deploys the dashboard needs replacement. You can't patch, glue or McGiver the dashboard together and just install a new airbag.

The dashboard will need to be replaced as an entire unit as well as the SRS module and seat belt tensioners. The VIN is by far the least of your worries. It's held in by rivets, which are drilled out and put on the new dashboard.

From my understanding, the dashboard from 2004-2008 varies only with a sunlight sensor. I believe it's in a different position on 2007-2008 or there's another senor by the drivers side.. I remember seeing something different on my friends Type-S dashboard (extra sensor) which isn't there on my 2004. Regardless, that's the only issue I know. From navi to non navi it wouldn't matter because all you need is the dashboard cover. Everything under the dashboard like vents, wiring harness, airbag, metal support frame gets swapped over..

If you dont want to drop the cash on a complete dash for tons of money, you could get one of these:

Coverlay dash cover

Coverlay Mfg| Dash Cover Coverlay 30-408LL-DBL

From a thread here about the cracked dash - Member pics:

Yeah, I thought that was kinda obvious. He asked about the dash - not about a new airbag. Even if you replace the airbag, you'd still have a hole in the dash.

Not sure how it isn't sure that is going to help him..

There's a thread posted somewhere in this section (3rd gen TL) of someone replacing their dashboard with instructions and pictures.
