Dashboard

The dash on my Ebony interior looks discolored. I hadn't really notice it unitl the warm weather came. I guess heat and light is causing some chemcial reaction on the vinyl. None of the cleaners or treatments I have tried seem to help. In fact some make the dash look faded. I'm not usiing any household cleaners Just the stuff supposedly made for cars.

I 'm also getting a film on the interior windshield as well which I assume is coming form vapors off the dash when it heats up.

I would appreciaate any advice on a solution.

film on the inside of the winshield is normal for all new cars. some have it more than others. you will see a white haze effect. i don't know how or why it gets there but it does. Had it on all my new cars that I bought.
from what i read on owners manuals in the past, you should only clean the dash with mild soap and water if needed. usually a damp cloth with work good.

Use 3M aerospace for the dash. It makes the color even, protects the plastic, and doesn't make it shiny like ArmorAl

Jetjock< where did you get the 3m aerospace at? Do I need to go to an FBO at the local airport or can I buy it at an automotive store?

I think JetLock means 303 Aerospace Protectant. That is about the best stuff you can get. It protects from UV, but retains the matte finish. Go to their webpage below to see all of their products and read about them. I think there is also a dealer search there.

For those interested, if you go to the website listed in Kazuaki's thread above, you can fill out a form to send for a free sample of the 303 protectant. Probably just those small packets like "wetnaps" but free is free and gives you a good chance to try before you buy. FWIW.

The most surprising thing about this stuff to me was it can be bought at EMS. - Eastern Mountain Sports (I think is the name) - never would have thought to look for it there.

just FYI

Yup. Surprised me too when I went to their dealer locator page. It turns out the EMS here in Boston was my closest retailer. I will go there this weekend.

yeah, but I have seen your car and you really don't take very good care of it.

Ha! you KNOW I am kidding - I have showed that car to complete strangers on the street - my wife is threatening to leave if I don't shut up about it!

'Nuff said - if joganjani uses it - then I am sold!!

Thanks for complements. Again.

Yes 303 is amazing and does not leave any shinny stuff on. I love it.
