Dang, almost had a 335i

Well shoot . . I would have to run into a 335i with my car running poorly. He pulled on me from 50 to 70mph when I had to let up because I don't want to really screw something up. This was my first loss to a 3Series.

So why did I even bother, well I just wanted to get an idea of how fast they are on the street. I figure with my car running 100% it'll be close . . real close.

Anyway, new exhaust turbo flex pipe is on order and new axles are in the works as well . . . and new tires as well . . the Kumho SPTs haven't held up at all . . less than 12k on them.

Truly, if your car's not running 100% it shouldn't even bug you. I walked a 328i coupe yesterday thinking it was a 335i coupe cause the guy pulled up next to me and all I saw was the styling and I immediately thought "finally, a 335i! I get to see what these sh*ts can do! " ... I walked him and then when I slowed down to 75ish he went by me at about 85 and I saw the "328" on the back and was disappointed. Regardless, I'm sure that soon enough we'll both get our serving of 335i. I'm gonna' get walked and I know it , hopefully you'll have a better outcome haha.

Good luck Ruf!

335's are fun to play with! Got to play with one a few months back and walked him by about 2 busses by 85mph.. Also got to play with a 750xi(the awd 1.. think they are called xi's) and was surprised by how good he hung with me...

Yeah, got some lined up on ebay so I'll have them soon I hope. The flex pipe leak is bad and is causing the O2 sensor to misread throwing off the mixture.

I also forgot that my intake is not fixed yet either. That part came in a couple of weeks ago but with the holidays it's been crazy. Once everything is fixed and new tires it'll be Bimmer season.

2nd Gen TLS . . . here's my current specs . .

02 WDP TLS Black Interior w/ Black Grill Inserts & Cleared Headlights
**1/4mile 14.46 @96.07MPH – 14.23 corrected; (45-70mph test - 3.5 secs)
17x7 Konig Appeals SMF – 16.8lbs each
P225/45ZR-17 Kumho SPT - (Falken Ziex ZE-512s for track)
CT Icebox, Custom RamAir, CT Sways & Springs
3nd Gen Innovative Motor Mounts – Front & Side Only
Bored out Intake & TBs, Mugen Cooling Mods & Thermoblok
Ceramic Coated XS Headers & Random-Tech Hiflow CAT
NEO Anti Freeze & 5w-20 oil w/Militec-1
Tranny #3 Installed 11.17.2008

Note: (** 14.4 was before I added the headers, Hi-flow CAT, IMMs, Bored out Intake & TBs)

And right now I've got bent axles, messed up RamAir, bad motor mounts and a bad leak at the exhaust flex pipe. All things considered I feel pretty good about matching up with a 335i, especially since I've already beaten a 550i, several 330i, four E36 M3s, a 645i and a several 328i.

I was literally the first one off the truck when the dealer got their first ones. I agree that it was probably one of those lucky fast ones, but I tend to break them in for it by running it from day one like I was going to on an on going basis. I don't recommend this, it's just that I've built my own engines in the past and the rule we had was if it was going to blow, it's going to sooner or later. What this does is really loosen up the engine - all the rotating mass - and as a result it will break-in quicker and will be looser so the rotating mass will spin up more easily and quickly . . . again, I don't recommend this, but it's how I've done my cars from day one. And I've never had a premature engine failure . . . so far.
