so after i got off the freeway on my exit. i saw an r32 trying to pick a fight with a base lancer. (lancer didnt bite) so i get next to the r32 and start pulling up and letting my car rock back...i looked ove and the guy didnt even look at me. we both took off easy, then at about 15mph stepped on it. on 2nd i easily got him by a car (i was able to merge on to his lane)

i slow down and realize my street is up ahead but, the r32 keeps ridding my bumper so i say "what the heck, i can always make a u turn". we passed my light, and before we got to the next one, he started to signal a right. (maybe he didnt wanna play after all) he changed his mind and moved to to my left lane. it was gonna be about a quarter mile race UPHILL. I was worried about tracation. light goes green, and were off. and like expected i had some traction problems. i spun well trough half of 1st. (guessing it was the uphill cause i dropped the clutch at around 1500rpm, like ususal and tires normally only chirp) right away this dude (who looked my age, got the jump. (my drivers door was on his back tire) he shifted to second before i did, and man that think griped nicelly. i shifted to second maybe a second later...all of second gear we stayed the same. i shift to third and my car felt strong (i really maxed out 2nd) i started catching him...toward the end of third i was even with him. before i shifted to 4th (rerally maxing out 3rd) i was starting to pull on him. i hit 4th and i was already edging him out quickly...
i let off after i had about 1 car lengh on him.

btw, the dude had his girl in the car (both looked like teens and very slim)

i came home, in a way hapy that i won but, also upset that i took me all the way up till 4th gear to for him to see my taillights

i just looked it up and that LITTLE THING IS:
AWD!!! WTF!??? (i didnt know this)
v6 wtf??? (i thought it was a fourbanger with turbo)
250HP/236TRQ (i feel better after seeing these #'s and the AWD)

im sure id have no problem taking him from a roll...like i did the first race

but a race from a dig is what counts! and i was victorious...

(also the hill was turning left TO HIS ADVANTAGE)

BTW, IVE ALWASYS LIKE THE WASY THAT LITTLE HATCH LOOKS but, now its got my respect aswell.

haha lucky kill. a majority of the vw community doesn't take their driver cars "lightly". nevertheless, those r32's are still slow, unless modded correctly that is. i drove a buddy's 08 R32, and i was...disappointed. the exhaust tone was GREAT, along with the dsg transmission: the 3k rpm launches are AWESOME. stock form - slow. modded - easily 500 hp...

 

Nice kill! The older R32's come with a 6-speed manual so it would have been harder to keep up but the new one's are just too damm heavy..I think they are like almost 3600 pounds!

 

lol 3600 for a little hatch....and people complain about how heavy the much bigger TL is...

anyways, nice kill! The GTi has a 4 banger with turbo and FWD, and the R32 like you said has V6 + AWD.

 

oh I love those r32 golfs. They never came out in canada which sucks and now they are too expensive to import from US. But you really need a turbo to get those things really fast. Still wouldn't call it slow tho

the v6 is fast, ive race the 4 bangers and didnt have any trouble before. i thought this was a fourbanger aswell.
i think theyre expensive period!

 

^ they are expensive but there is such a small amount of them in north america, thats why they are expensive. They are unique and I wish I had one but thats not gonna happen haha

 

I raced a R32 the other day too....he was tailing me but neither of us went because there were speed cameras ahead. Once we past the cameras (i put SS in 2nd gear and held it @ about 4k) I saw/heard him go, so I nailed it. It was pretty even but I suprisingly started edging him out then we both shut off around 100. I deff didn't see that win coming.

 

VW'ers get really pissed wen they lose a race. i dont know why. not that i dont like vw'ers its just vw's are not my taste.

 

Those cars are quick but at high speeds, I am sure all awd cars cant move as well as 2wd. At least thats what its like in my frinds talon

 

4k in 2nd is like 45-50 right? from a roll they are easier to beat...nice win!
exactly, i raced my friends stock STI from 70mph and we were even! ofcourse i wont race from a dig, we all know what will happen!
