Custom Third Brake Light by AckTL05.

Hello Everyone. As some of you may know I make custom tail lights for the Third Generation ACURA TL. I recently figured out how to modify the third brake light, which is the tail light on the upper portion of the back window. Install is simple and the cost for these will be $20, pay pal and shipping included. My pay pal is s0574049@monmouth.edu. All you need to do is send payment as a gift on pay pal and put in a note that says “ACURA third brake light”, or "TYPE S third brake light", for your order. Custom orders to get your saying will be $25. I try to check my E-Mail at least three times a day, so once payment is received I will send out the package first thing the next morning. Below are pictures of the modification on my car and how it will look when the brakes are pressed.

So everyone knows: I just placed the order on 3/15/2010 and the first batch will be here within the next week. Anyone placing an order from now and until the first batch gets here will have to be patient until they arrive. Anytime after the first batch, I will keep these in stock and they will be sent out as orders come in. Thank you!

I need pic's bro, for quality and blah blah blah.

Can you make it so that is says " type-s" or " I'm the Best" or " I <3 Jesus" ???? or " Baby on Board" or "BORICUA" or "SEXY TIMES"

THAT would be cool, because I'm pretty sure ppl know what an Acura is when they see it, I don't think TLer's need another sign (for those who don't debadge the trunk of "ACURA" and "TL" pieces) that says "ACURA" on the stoplight IMO.

but the idea is good anyway.

Why wouldn't it? It still lights up red like a brake should. I made the "ACURA" as big as I could to fit the light and the design I have gives a distinct look. It still shines as bright as it should. Normally cops tell me the VINYL people put on their tail lights lens is illegal. This is not covering the light at all, it is simply making a design.

If people know what an ACURA is then they will know what a TYPE-S is also, . When you get out of control with I'm the best and such is when trouble will arise. I am in the middle of custom fitting "TYPE-S", which should be up shortly.

It looks like it's just a sticker, that you put on the rear window.

not alot of people can tell a reguler TL from a type-s, unless you tell them it's a Type-s and even then, they be like "What'z the difference?" . It's just like M3's, unless you KNOW what the characteristics of an M3 is, you'll just think it's another BMW

I would get the Type-s back light instead of Acura. I think it would look better. Good Job though, never seen this mod before.

Its not just a sticker per-say. Your paying for the quality of the material, an ordinary "sticker" would just fall off. I had mine on my car for almost 5 years now and NO problems.

Understandable, but this is just something to make the third brake light more unique and get rid of the red on the back window. I have tints and it "completes" my back window. I will post pics up in a little bit. It only appears when the third brake light is lit up and fitting something with more characters than "ACURA" will compromise room for letters.

Not to shit on your thread, but what exactly are we getting for $25? Just a vinyl overlay for the 3rd brake light?
If that is the case, these have been available for some time now at a significantly cheaper price.

POS P&S camera. Looks better in person (or through a D90!)
But in looking at the pics, I can see where Ack's lettering is slightly larger than mine.

Here are pictures during the day. You guys can see how it "completes" and covers the third brake light. It gets rid of that redness in the window. The $25 covers shipping costs, since I will ship them out in a bubble wrapped manilla envelope, and pay pal fees. I am using 'high performance' if you will, vinyl, which is the same that I used for mine. Mine is going on five years and still looks new.

Actually that looks really good and flush...it even looks good when the light is turned off. I will probably get it just to get the red off the rest of my tinted window...it gets pretty annoying when backing up.

Man, was I confused. I thought you manipulated the LEDs in the TBL to spell out ACURA but it's a cut-out for that portion of the back window normally neglected when folks get their tint and don't pop the TBL cover off. For those people, yeah, this is definitely a necessity. And it is tight how visible it is when not on the brake.

BUT for those who popped the cover before tint, do like myself and others have done and buy the TBL overlay. I only spent 13.75 shipped. And Baya, like anything else, this is just something you can't judge by a photo. Especially the color red which bleeds and is extremely hard to photograph

There is one reason why I do not like that, it kills light output. Mine uses all of the brake light in the transition to "ACURA", when that one blocks the LEDs. Not sure if you can see yours in the day time, but mine you can. Also, do you have any problems with them being on the light so close? I know when I have tint on my tail lights, they started to melt to the light because of the high output of heat from the LEDs. I just talked to my guy and I can do 20 shipped, since I am going to buy in bulk. I can make your tail light say anything, but that's $25 because it will be a custom order.

I am also getting in bulk, "TYPE S", so those will be $20 shipped as well.

Mod's please change whole first paragraph to this:

So this just sticks to the rear window or on actual third brake light?

It definitely doesnt look like something just stuck to the window. I would be interested in this too. Looks cool. It may be my first physical mod (since I did hack the navi a few months ago).

I custom made it to fit on the outside so that all of the light would be used, the letters could be bigger and to make it look flush (especially if you have tints). When you put the VINYL on the LED board you risk it melting to the light and you sacrifice light output since you cover the light where you don't need it. You can also see mine during the day
