It seems like the other choice peopel go with is a carbon fiber hood... michael benz posted a link to a guy that makes CF parts that he liked over in the parts forum... carbon fiber engine shrouds i believe was the name of the thread.

Accuratein (sp?) has a WDP with carbon fiber hood and the front bumper is painted black along the lines of the hood to match. Good looking car actually, minus the fish gills he added.

I actually want a custom hood that looks like one of the American V8s, with hood scoop(name?), sort of like the last genration of mustang cobra.

You know it was weird... I was looking at my car from a restaurant window the other day, now that is is smoked and has the a-spec kit... and from that particular angle, I swear it looked like an american muscle car in some ways. For me, that's not a good thing, but it looked good either way.

I know that you can buy a universal scoopand they can mount it on your current hood. Their is a body shop where I live that I know they wil do the owrk cause i had what you want done on my rsx previously. they charge you and are not very timely cause after market parts they take their time . It is in Wayne and they do good work. This was a year ago but im sure they will do what you want.

IMO - I think the TL would look best with either the stock hood, or a cowl style raised hood, but I'm not sure if it would look good with a forward-facing scoop. Maybe we have some Photoshop pro's in here who could show some examples.

A CF hood just like stock painted body color would also be great (weight reduction, with a stock appearance)

I guess I'd have to see it before making a judgement.

Its not a bad idea for heat soak purposes with a charger. if you get the design and you like who cares what others think!

Thats looks hot in opinion. I think you just have to buy a universal scoop that is like that and any body shop can mount and paint that for you. I worked at a body shop when i was 16 for 2 years and i did a lot of work like that. Its not that hard aside from cutting an accurate hole in the hood to make it a functional scoop.

You could probably use something like this!

http://www.carxpressions.com/exterio...inglelarge.htm

It doesnt have to be exactly like this but you could make this permanently part of your hood.

What a nice choice, as a matter of fact, I just traded in my 03 Cobra for this car. I do miss all that power, having a KB and putting down 580 at the rear wheels is missed, but the TL is more of a luxury car. I can live with it for a while, and then get another cobra later on. I like the look of the 03/04 hood better..here is a pic of my old car.....

You have a 3G right? When did Comptech release the supercharger? Have I completely missed something here? I thought they were still "fine tuning" it..

Well, no one's going to say that RL looks like an old man's car. Too bad the paint is peeling off in several large patches.

I'm not digging the organic-looking openings in the lower dam, but the rest of that car looks quite nice.

I agree your best bet would be to just add a functional scoop or cowl to your existing hood rather than getting a newly-built custom one. You could probably get a decent hood off a wrecked car and have your shop get it ready while you still have your stock hood on your car.

Option 1. What every STi owner wishes their car can look like.
Option 2. An RL owner's worst nightmare.
Option 3. Look, it's Subacura !!!

No, I don't think I want to do a hood scoop after all. It'll just attract the police and street racers, so I gave up on the idea. The red RL with modification was a picture I found on google, I think it's a photoshop...but I could be wrong.
According to ComptechUSA, the supercharger will be out on late october.... my friend Tommy, a car enthusiast/mechanic have done other superchargers is eager to put the comptech supercharger on my car for me I believe it'll cost around $4500 for the whole kit.

I'm waiting for the guys that made the hood for the TL endurance car to bring something to mass production. Preferably in carbon fiber so I can have it custom painted.....

Don't have a pic of the endurance car, but i'm sure a search will bring it up....

Yeah comptech says the charger will cost between 4 &5 k. I have been waiting for months for that thing to come out to put it on my car.

Does anyone know how much our stock hood actually weighs? It's a pretty small hood (as the front fenders curve into it and take up over 1/3 (guessing here) of the space where a traditional full hood would go).

Would there be much of a difference in weight if someone made a CF hood to replace the stocker? I could see on a SAAB where the hood covers the entire front area and rolls over the edge into the fenders a bit, but our 3G's have very small hoods.

If I were to CF anything, I would paint it body color and use it only for weight reduction (I would not do it for aesthetics alone w/o a reasonable amount of weight reduction). I'm personally not a big fan of the CF look on large exterior body panels (when unpainted).

Inside the engine bay?? well, that's a different story! CF engine shroud and all the other plastic panels would look sweet.

Isn't putting MORE power to our FWD car gonna be a little nuts? And how much more power is the SC supposed to bring us? I'm installing my AEM intake next weekend and I'm already thinking that it'll be too much power to wheels that already lose their grip if you push it too hard off the line. Or maybe the SC is to overtake STis on the highway... :P

It is supposed to add 50-60 whp. It is definately gonna break the wheels free. Just get some good rubber and learn to slip the clutch and you should be okay to harness the power. I had 400whp on my fwd RSX and that thing could spin through 3 gear with out trying. I could some what control that with good rubber and slipping the clutch

According to ComptechUSA, it's about 50-60whp, and 80-90hp on top of 270hp we already have. Having that said, I still need to see the dyno chart... but I am assuming we should have about 350~360hp.

OK, so 350hp at the crank. Yikes, that's nuts. I mean, I guess it would be super cool, but I wonder how hard it'll be to handle. I mean, even now, sometimes when I really push it in 1st, I gotta let go of the shift knob and grab the wheel with both hands to keep it from jerking. 'specially when downshifting and overtaking someone.

Oh well, I can hardly wait till people start installing these and reporting all the gory details back to us. How much do you guys think it'll cost to get it installed? TME, I know you're getting Tommy to do it, but not all of us have a Tommy.

My friend who has a 2004 turbo IS300 had his car installed for $8900 total. I am assuming the labor will cost about $1500, so you might be looking at about $6000ish.

If the TL is rated at 258hp, it'll be around 340~350hp at the crank. That will be a pretty fast car, the turbo IS300 is rated at 350hp but it out runs a 2003 Mustang Cobra on the highway. I think he has a clip on http://www.elusivemedia.com/index_gallery.htm , you can check it out there...

IS300 with a turbo is nasty. They have the supra motor in them so they have lots of potential. My friend has a turbo IS and it runs in the 12's at the track.

I've gotta go make a trip to the hospital to sell my left kidney... be right back.

I'm in Canada, so $6000US will be like $7000 Canadian for me. OUCH.

Oh well, I've been known to do crazier things... I'll be a jerk and wait for everyone else to beta it for us.
