ZKW's are on the way too ya.. Should be there the end of the week

 

Could someone give me a link to purchase the ZKW's I can only find the replicas on ebay. Is there a vendor sells these?

 

^^ No vendor, just a few people who are trying to ditch their old sets that they held onto thinking that they will retain their value. When the ZKW/TL combo first came out the lenses went for as much as $350 a pair, I know as I bought my first set back in 04~05. Now with the ZKW replicas in the market no one is spending that much on the lenses so every now and then you would find a set on ebay for around $150, which is a killer price.

 

so if i wanted you to do CCFL, all I would need to pay is $25 (for swap of headlights) + cost of shipping ...is that correct?

Hopefully your received the ZKW-R lenses today via UPS. I spoke with my wife and after seeing your post we have decided to leave amber diffuser in and paint the chrome strip black.

^^ No they are not but the way they are set up it looks like the multiple colored rings will be too wide for the TL headlights, TL headlights are very narrow as you know and even the halos are only 3/4 of a circle rather than a whole circle due to clearance issues.

I certainly like the idea though, let me see if I can measure and get an appropriate set of rings for some test fitting.

 

JnC -- if i want to go through with your services, do I just post here or should I email you. I think I'm gonna do the color matched lights. IS it ok to have the paintscrach products shipped direct to you or should I have it to me, and then ship to you?

Also -- does anyone know of an easy way to know if this will violate a law or have it not pass inspection. I'm in PA, and don't know where to look.

People usually buy the lenses, paint etc and have the seller ship it directly to me to save time and money.

PM me and let me know what color your car is as I might be able to get you a cheaper alternative to paint scratch.

As far as the laws are considered, it all depends on who and where you go for inspection. I have had the chrome coated amber bulbs in my headlights and have never had any issues with inspection or state police as light still shines amber when parking or turn signal is engaged.

Hey im new here and have a few questions. Would you be able to retro some AP1 projectors into an 04 TL? What about using the E46-R's for bezels, is that possible? I think I would probably also want the STI-R lens in the AP1's. Also I would like LED's in all of the indents on the bezels, if that makes sense. I found some philips 85122+ for $75 a pair new, to good to be true? I would send a PM but they are disabled because im new. So how much would it cost to do all this if I provide all the parts? thanks for your time!!

 

^^ The E46-R bezels are made for headlights that people retro projectors into and then use the bezels to cover up their work to make it look aesthetically pleasing.

The STI-R lenses are made for projectors such as 2G 350Z, 1G Porsche Cayanne, 1G murano etc so they dont work with TL or the AP1 S2k projectors.

The AP1 S2000 projectors already come with clear lenses so a swap wouldnt help, also, there isnt enough room in the fog light opening of an 04-06 TL headlight to do the AP1 retro.

 

I couldnt make it to work on Saturday bud so the headlights will be shipped today. You should have them in a day or so since you are in NJ.

For someone who wants type S headlight look i.e. partial amber diffuser here is an option

Blacked out V2 with partial amber diffuser.



The area behind the diffuser is painted black to give the diffuser a smoked out look, sort of like how it is in the above picture of the headlights onf st04louis' WDP TL. This area can also be left chrome to have a more prominent amber rather than the subtle affect that can achieved by painting the reflector behind black.
