It's called a ballast... and it depends on what year your car is...

2007 Acura TL-S. Is that covered under warranty if it is the ballast? I would think it would be.

Since you are in Canada, you have the Canadian 06 headlights which are a bit different than the USDM ones. Instead of foglights yours come with DRLs.

Okay, sorry to hijack this thread Farrukh, but I'm confused as hell with people using "fog lights" in different ways. My "fog" lights are low, inside the bumper. My DRL's are right next to my headlights. That said, do some people use the term "fog lights" as the DRL's?

$150 is the labor for blacked out, $25 for halo install and a set of dual halos from ebay goes for $140. Exchange program has an additional cost of $25. You can email me at rook786(at)aol(dot)com if you have any questions.

Well at the moment I dont have CDM headlights available for trade in, most of my customers from canada have been sending me the headlights for the work, which I know is not feasible for everyone. I am trying to source a set for CDM lights but its not been going well with the search.

^^ Hold on to those, I might come around and get them off of you in the next few weeks.

Also, I didnt know you were in Canada since the address you gave me was from ND, I see what you did there lol. You'll just shoot over the border and pick these up and save on customs fee etc.

Question I have 2008 tl type s

JNC,
I might sound a little slow lol, but please help me understand this better so I can order me some lights from you. I know what I want I just don’t understand some things .

1/ what is V2, CF stand for ?

2/ ZKW-R are you replacing the Acura lenses or are you adding a lenses to the fog light that don’t have a lens ? I hate the fog lights are there any mod for them ?

3/ as I’m planning to have angle eyes and maybe led, how are they operable when I get the lights back ? I mean is there is an extra connection I have to create in order for them to work or it will be contacted to the light bulb ? on off switch ?

4/ I have a 3” ZKW lenses, I have the ACC Oracle Halo Kit . what ealse I will need to send you to have my lights done with:

a/ Blacked out
b/ angle eyes
c/ ZKW replacement or add-on ?

what is the total price for labor and all .

thank you JNC

1) V2 with CF means blacked out V2 with Carbon Fiber inlays applied to the outside part of the turn signal reflector. V2 (Version 2) means that the turn signal reflector is partially painted black hence most of the functional part of the turn signal reflector is left chrome.

Your headlights would look something like this

(Note that the above pictured headlights dont have the CF inlays).

2) ZKW-R lenses would be replacing the OEM fresnel lenses.

3) You can either tap into the parking light power supply to power them or have a auto electrician install a seperate switch inside the cabin wired independently from everything else.

4) If you have the halos and the lenses then you are good.

5) Labor for blacked out V2 is $150, CF is an additional $25 and $25 for the halo install.

Above quote is if you send your headlights in for the work, if you opt for the core exchange program it has a $25 charge.

^^^ thanks JNC

here is the plan

1/ V2 black pearl, i think it will go good with a nighthawk black . < ----- anything i need to provide and from where?

2/ cleared

3/ the fog light, i hate that thing . it looks so bad and ugly, can you do anything with it? as to install ZKW to cover that hole or add projection. let know PLEASE.

4/ as for the angle eyes i was looking at one of your previous post and found this link http://www.umnitza.com/umnitza-acura...08-p-1340.html

i think this looks better than tube, if it will work then i will get this instead.

Thanks

As for question #3, I've been trying to find a DIY for wiring my halos once I get my headlights back (any day now).

I've searched but can't find any threads on DIY for wiring them. Ideally I'd like them to be lit anytime the car is started. Anyone know of any links to DIY's for that?

^^ If you have them on all the time you'll be going through those CCFL ballasts pretty fast, I always recommend getting a separate switch installed to power the CCFLs so they are independent of everything else.

BTW, you should receive your headlights by thursday .

Also, you are the first one to get the headlights with the halos installed using my new method of halo install. In the past I used clear epoxy to hold them in place but have had instances where people would hit a pot hole real hard and knock one or both halos loose, the new method would make sure that dont happen ever again. You'd have to break the headlights to get the halos off of the bezels

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I got the headlights and they look good. I noticed the thin-wire on the CCFL's, is that the upgraded procedure? If so, good idea.

I don't mind going through ballasts, as I can order more and install them in an easily reached place. If no-one has any DIY's on wiring (is there a parking light wiring link somewhere?) then I may have to take it to the dealer, which I hate doing!!

Will be installing on Saturday and sending back right after.

Thanks again JnC, your work looks VERY good so far.

ok so my car is getting painted right now and im going to be taking the headlights out

its kind of hard to describe what i want but ill try

i want the headlights fully blacked out w/partial amber diffuser but question is... do u usually paint behind the diffuser to give it a darker smoked look?

on page 9 towards the bottom i saw one w/partial amber but it looked like it was left chrome behind it

also what exactly do zkw lenses do that oem lenses dont???

Most of these questions can be answered on the first page of the thread by reading and viewing the difference in pictures. Just heads up!

Nope the base 04-06 has foglights in the headlights. 07+ they started putting them in the bumber. In Canada they have DRL's instead of the fogs, in the headlights.

That is correct.

US o4-o6 "inner lights" = foglights. Distinguished by a "nipple".
vs
CAD o4-o6 "inner lights" = DRLs. Has no "Nipple".

US + CAD 07+ have the "inner lights" as DRLs and fogs in the lower bumper.

You need 06+ ballasts, plus 9005 bulbs for the DRL opening.
