Crushed an Audi A4 2.0T

Looked like a newer model...maybe 2003-2004. We were both coming out of school and I see this silver Audi catching up pretty quick. Couldn't do much because we were in traffic, so I kept it slow until we had a chance to get on the open road. I guess he missed that memo because he got next to me and continuously reved his engine so I could hear his aftermarket blow off valve. Anyways, we finally manage to merge onto an extremely open road (4 lanes, nobody in front of us) and he got a chance to merge first, which automatically gave him about a car and a half in front of me. He didn't hesitate to push it out of the turn, so I floored it coming out. Suprisingly enough, he held his own until about 60mph, however, right when I got into third gear I walked him like he was standing still. I stopped at around 115, and he was about two or three cars back. Pretty fun race... *mods in sig

I would think youd win..... they only have 200hp and like 207tq.... and a blow off valve on an audi is death to their engine.... theyre supposed to have a diverter valve..... hes actually losing power going that route..... but he think it sounds cool..... we'll see what happens to his ride in about 15k miles lol.

It would be pretty fast if it was a GTi, but A4 is not light lol.

The A4 isn't that quick stock, but you guys would be surprised what a re-flash can do for those turbo engines. Along with a couple other bolt-ons, the 6spd cars can be very quick. And from a dig, the modded Quattros can murder a TL.

Nice cars, too. I went back and forth between the A4 and the TL for months, but the TL won out in the end. Two of the best looking 4 doors on the road IMO.

I don't know what it is...I had an '03 A4 Quattro 1.8T MT5 before my 3G Type-S, and that thing ALWAYS broke down on me! Like I said, though...there was something about it...it wasn't as fast or torquey as my Type-S, but I miss that car, even with the CONSTANT breaking down...Even though the Type-S pulls off better skidpad #'s, the A4 felt way better taking turns, and even with only a stated 170whp, that thing held it's own.

Yep, all you need a re flash on that car, and its a whole new beast. With proper mangement and tuning, that car is no joke, just as for any other car.

Yeah, I was actually leaning more heavily towards the A4 with the S-Line package, but the TL's stronger projected resale value and of course reliability swayed me to do the sensible thing. Seeing 03's selling for less than my '03 Accord EX 4 cyl. only cemented my decision. I really do like the interior on the Audi and the leather is better for sure.

I had an 04 1.8t that was chipped 2.5" mandrel bend turboback exhaust and some other mods and let me just tell you it was faster than my TL type-s. On the same piece of road my VW reached 140-145mph my type-s Only hits about 130mph. Thank goodness I didn't purchase the Type-s with racing in mind.

^ Yup, Euros and their god-damned chips.

Any turbo car would benefit greatly from a better fuel map and upped boost but those guys have so many plug and play options. It's almost like the domestics...

A4

The stock A4 is pretty tame. The 2.0 with the k03 turbo performs ok but no where near that of a TL, let alone a Type S. The A4 does have a K04 turbo upgrade which changes the character of the car from 200hp and 207 torque to 298 hp and 321 torque.

It becomes a much different animal. The other side of the equation is the drive train loss, driver, etc. It makes for a very interesting race, but the numbers I see on paper for the 0-60 dash is about 6 seconds.

I got one so I can attest to the performance numbers. I know that on paper the 300 ponies and torque should take down many cars but keep in mind even with minimal turbo lag, it takes a few tenths off the time. Catch me on a roll at 2500 rpms and its a whole new ball game.
