1) cryogen'd replacements
2) embossed diamond cut (small diamond shapes cut into rotor face)
3) slotted
x-drilled rotors are not for street use (they are if you wish to fork up that $$$).

www.performanceplusbrakes.com They sell cross-drilled slotted rotors and pads.
They are a popular appearance upgrade. Drilling and slotting have become so pervasive that it seems like every kit comes with one or the other now. If you're looking for a performance upgrade you should do some research first. I think you would find many racers running 'smooth faced' rotors for cost, durability, and performance reasons. I have never seen a cross-drilled rotor on a car in a major racing series.

I agree OEM size cross drilled is for looks only. The holes are to reduce weight and dissipate heat but with an OEM system, it does nothing.
BBK kits, yes, they do help as the system was designed from the start to be high-performance.
Nothing wrong with getting OEM cross drilled if you want the look. Beware, some dealers don't want to touch and resurface when it's time to change pads....

That's because X-drilled rotors are for street and sloted are for racing.

Porsche rotors are not cross drilled, the holes are cast into them as they are made. Big difference from cross drilling.
Porsche factory race cars use AP slotted rotors. These will last a 24 hour race with no issue.
