Crazy TL Driver

Was driving down rte. 24 in SE MA this evening and came up behind an 04-06 gold TL base, he floored it when I went to pass him so we end up racing down the highway. All in good fun

It was a long straight stretch with no traffic so no big deal, I hit 140
I backed off when we hit the heavy traffic again, but he was passing everyone in the break down lane and was gone

Be careful out there people, there are worse things that can happen to you than speeding tickets

you have a type-s? isn't there a speed limiter at 132 mph? there's like another thread discussing the limiters of TL's. 04-06 seems to have a limit higher then TL's 07- up.

I don't race personally, not becuz I don't like to hit 100 mph, but becuz of what you get whether you win or lose: chipped paint all over your car from the flying pebbles, it sucks.

Lol, this would be a good signature.

I won't argue it either, as for the speed limiter its reported to be around 140, however I have heard that the 6 speed is higher than the 5.

We all enjoy an adrenaline rush, I guess I'm getting too old. I've seen too many horrible accidents where usually the innocent get hurt the most.

I do 80mph daily on empty roads or at night where the lanes are open, to me it feels like I'm going 40, I do want to go faster, but my conscious asks me why...and I drop speed and cruise. Another TL driver is cool to run with, next to, not racing, just a wave of a hello, a little rev, and it's over.

Though this you shouldn't of went that fast, I'm sure that everyone that is saying it was bad, has done it before... more than once.

Negatron Cosmonaut! 140mph would scare this Mama's boy to certain death! Ok. I've lived on the wild side and encroached the 100mph mark. And I lived to talk about it!

You can go to jail and lose your license at that speed. I have gotten to 115 and the car handled like it did at 90 so I figured that was good enough.

Of course I did that in an church elementary school zone for retarded colored kids.

Hahaha funny story. I saw a jack ass in a Mustang Cobra weaving in traffic the other day behind me. I just tightened up my distance behind the car in front of me so this guy couldn't cut me off. I call it defensive driving. Well this guy blew a freaken gasket!!! He started getting with in inches of my bumper and then got around me and started swerving into my lane. Then he got way up in front of me and slammed on his brakes. This was all in 5 oclock rush hour traffic!!!! Idiots!!!! Kill em all let god sort em out!!!

After reading the thread, just thought I'd vent also.
A few months ago the wife and I were going to dinner at the Capitol Grille in Cherry Hill in our WDP TL. Some ******* in a TLS came along side and floored the car (A/T no less), then let off the gas, got back alongside and floored it again. When we got to the next light I went past him in the right lane as the traffic moved up. He lingered back and waited for a gap, got along side and floored it again. The guy was a complete idiot. What even annoys me more is that he has no idea of who I am or what I might drive other than the TL. Guess he was showing over for his girlfriend he had with him.

Last year there was a TL on 195 in Jersey that tried passing everybody on the right and I saw it coming that he was going to run out of room, and sure enough he had to slam on the brakes and let the left lane go by before he could move back over at the end once again. I laughed so hard my sides hurt.

Everybody thinks they are a race car driver, but they have no clue whatsoever.

No one really ever tries to race me. Either I'm not paying attention or they see my Springfield Armory stickers.

Disappointed in the irresponsible actions....140mph ????Renting track time at a race track is the sensible thing to do.

Would you drive anywhere near that speed with your mother, wife or children in the car ??? I doubt it.

I have no problem with people driving fast, I cruise between 110 and 120 on open stretches.
The weaving in traffic and this dude doing 100 in the breakdown lane is what makes me nervous, and usually ends up killing a bunch of people including the innocent.

Theres nothing better than sealing off their gap when they cut across 3 lanes to cut you off

No I wouldn't because I wouldn't want to put them in danger.
But if I want to put myself in danger when there is no one else around I should have the right too.
Unless this is care for my personal being, I don't understand why you care?

Public roads = tax payers' money and lives. And if something happens (even if you are the only car on the road), tax payers and insurance holders suffer also.

Go to a race track to race.

Isn't something like 20mph over is reckless and you can go to jail. Cruising at 115 to 120 even in 75-80 is crazy. OP is right it is mistakes made by people who go to these extremes that punish us all.

Good luck.

My dad used to be an EMT and iv heard some nasty stories about accidents at high speeds. He let me get a street bike but not before a speach about how in emergency rooms they call guys who ride bikes like mine "organ doners", the fastest iv ever gone was 147 on a highway with my brother beside me on his bike, glad I did it it was horrifying and now I can honestly say I will never do it again, its something you need to experience.

I dont' have a huge problem with the 140 if the two of you were truly alone. It's the weaving in the emergency lane that would cause me to beat someone.

I hate it when people try and race me in the TL. It's ok if they try it once and I don't bite but I get pissed real quick when they try multiple times to the point of harassment. It's funny when I have a CHP friend in the car. The look when they see the badge is priceless.

The other thing that bothers me is some dork in a 258hp car trying to race me acting all serious when I have one at home that's 5 seconds quicker through the 1/4. It's just retarded.
