cracked windshield

so i recently just bought my 04 TL, 2 weeks ago to be exact. i got off work today and when i got in the car, i saw a crack in the windshield. the crack started on the driver side edge and went straight across, right in front of my field of vision. there are no rock chips anywhere near the crack.

has this happened to anyone before?

i have glass coverage on my insurance policy, so it is being replaced with no cost to me.

anyone that has had their windshield replaced, is there anything i should watch our for to ensure the new windshield is installed correctly with regards to the side moldings and the rear view mirror?

The same week I bought my TL, it was nasty hot outside and all of a sudden it started pouring. I turned on my windshield wipers and since they were old and dirty, they leave huge scratch marks all over my windshield, therefore I had to replace it.

I had no problems with getting mine replaced even though I had to pay out of pocket. Nothing should go wrong unless the people doing the swap are blind

Windshield

Bought my '07 TL type-S Dec. '09 at 8:30 p.m. drove it off the lot.
At 8:00 a.m. the next day I took a pebble to the drivers side window!

Find out from your dealership who does the glass for THEM! That's who I used.
In fact, the glass people do the glass AT THE DEALERSHIP all the time. You can make that arrangement happen.

Not all glass is equal. If the glass is not OEM find out from different glass companies what is the best that they recommend.

Good luck.

Dont know if your insurance company offers the glass insurance. Mine offers it and if the front windshield cracks chips whatever they fix it for free.... If any other window gets broken its a 25 dollar deduct and then they take the rest. I pay around 4 dollars a month for this. Might be worth looking into before you pay for a windshield

IF there is no visible rock damage or debris damage and its just a stress crack acura will replace it for free if your car is still under warranty.... IT is a defect this happend to me about a year ago and the service manager came out and looked at and came to the conclusions it was just a stress crack and not cause from debris they will replace it for free

i have the state farm for insurance and have the additional glass policy added, so i don't have a deductible to pay for a new windshield.

i'm going through the same place that my local acura dealership uses/recommends. the glass that they use is called PPG and i also found out that state farm will not cover the cost of a OEM windshield.

my car isn't under warranty anymore since its a 04, so getting it replaced under warranty is out.

PPG from what I understand is like OEM. I had my windshield replaced twice on my TL-S within a month's time. Just make sure your rearview mirror on on tight. Mine was a bit loose the 2nd time the glass was replaced.
