Couple of new things...

Finally debadged the car and let me tell you, it looks much much better. But nothing is ever easy. Ended up locking the keys in the trunk and having a tow truck unlock my car. Secondly I just want to give Ramsey Acura in NJ mad props for taking care of me and my car. Long story short, they gave me four brand new Cooper Zeon tires because one tired was wearing badly because of poor alignment when the car was purchased. And lastly just got my Hoen Xenonmatch foglight bulbs and installed them. They look amazing, so much better than the yellow looking stock one and they just match perfectly. Looks really sharp and would def. suggest them. Its hard to get good pictures of them but I will try...

I recently locked myself out of my TL at work. I was concerned if the locksmith or tow truck would be able to use the "slim jim" or have to use the "wedge".

To prevent any damage to the car, I got a cab home and back to work with the valet key to unlock the door.

Did the tow truck driver unlock the door using the slim jim down the outside window? Any damage to the windows trim (the piece that touches the window)?

Not really sure the name of what he used but ill explain what it was. First he tried using a bag that fills up with air but the TL is so damn tight that it wasn't working. So he did have to use the wedge but was very careful. I mean I was standing right on top of him but as for damage, nothing thank god

After reading your thread and contemplating if for quite awhile, I've finally debadged mine this morning. Can't believe I've waited this long. LOL

I have not heard of the air bag approach. So he placed the air bag in the same location as the wedge and attempted to create the gap?

BTW: Have you notice additional wind noise coming from the location where he used the wedge?

Glad there was no physical damage.

airbag is an inflatable pillow used to get some space between the door and the car so the person can get to the unlock button

wedge is pretty much self explanitory...

i've only seen AAA use a wedge once, most of the time they like the airbag. probably has more to do with the type of car than anything else

Once they create a small gap they use a bendable rod to hit the unlock button inside the car.

Typically, they wedge at the top right corner of the driver's door and the frame of the car to create the gap. Then using a bendable rod with a near 90 degree end, hit the unlock button on the driver's interior door.

I have read posts that on various cars that they had wind noise issues after having the wedge used and I guess the same would be true for the air bag.
