Couple Mechanical Quiestions.

Hey guys, I noticed my car is idiling not at 500, but close to the 1k mark. Is that bad or is it normal? Also, Iam replacing my front Brake pads, and wondering if my rotors need to be turned,There pretty smooth.

cars average idol is about 700 to 800 RPM, so ur fine. if ur rotors arent old and worn, and are as smooth as you say then you should be good

I've noticed my car idles at alot higher RPM sometimes as well, when I first start it up(1200-1300RPM's) and then goes down as the engine warms up. Anyway to fix that?

Rotors will need to be replaced when you brake and the car pulsates.

Yeah, I noticed this too. Even in warm/mild temperatures, my car idles slightly higher. But after driving and sitting idle the RPMs will drop to 750-800.

At startup, it is not only perfectly normal but essential that the engine runs at a higher RPM initially. Generally within 30 to 45 seconds, the idle will be much closer to its normal range. Again, this is normal, desirable, and planned, and is done for real reasons.

I see you have a manual. Are you replacing your pads with stock OEM Acura units, or an after-market set to reduce dusting? I replaced mine a year and a half ago on my '04 manual not because they needed to be replaced, but because I hated all of the dusting. I went with Rotex Gold Kevlar pads.

Now for the meat of this response. If you are going with a different set of pads than those which came with the car, you will need to bed them in. There are a bunch of write-ups on this and I did several of them. If you do not bed them in properly, expect them to have reduced braking efficiency and squealing. Here are two links to some of my write-ups;

Incidentally, replacing the pads is pretty simple.
