I went to Maaco and got a qoute. They said they would paint the hole car, in the same color, two stage paint for $1220 out the door. What do you guys think? Should I go for it? I think it's really cheap.

I actually went to a great shop that I know then when to Maaco just to see what the difference would be. The good shop said they would do it for $4550. Big difference, I wonder if the good shop, price matches? LOL

(except the McRib has a better paint job than MAACO )

If you look closely at KOGTL's car, you'll see it has a black stripe down the hood and extends to the front bumper.
Here's his thread-the TL's name is Rose.

I looked at Rose and I didn't like her alot. The color is really great but the door jams are still blk and the arrow is kinda ricey. Maybe if it was like a ghost grafic, only visible at certin angles. I'm not hating, very person has his or her own likes and dislikes. I'm just expressing my thought as to what I would of done sould it have been me.

If you really want a quality paint job, make friends with a painter. Some shops allow their guys to do side jobs when they are off the clock.
A freind who is a painter does this all the time charges about 1000-1500 to do a car (everything but the engine bay). Granted it takes him about 2 times the amount of time that it would usually but the work is just as good, if not better because the cash is going in his pocket.
Try posting on your local craigslist you might find a painter that is willing to spray your car as a side job.

Do you know what is the name of the color or maybe the color code that he used. In another thread someone posted a M3 with an awsome color called techno violet. I might go in that direction.

I think the Jesus Mobile looks sick. I used to have a 1999 Integra that had the dark midnight blue and I loved the color. That car is pretty sick, and super unique.

Body Paint change only, would estimate for $2,000.
Custom Paint, probably a little bit more.
However, for a full body paint, including the door frames and such, $4,000.

Use to work for body shops.

I understand originality, I've made up my mind I'm gonna go with the BMW color called techno violet off a 97.

I'm leaning toward Carbon black too. I'm hoping it won't be too expensive since the car is already black (sort of). Debating on getting the jambs done too since they're perfect and you really can't see the blue metallic in them.

This thread is awesome.
Here's a chart of the BMW paint codes; the Laguna Seca blue is AMAZING but don't think a TL can pull it off....
Some thoughts I had about a repaint.

- Interlagos Blue Metallic
- Laguna Seca Clearcoat
- Melbourne Red Metallic
- Glacier Frost Mica (Lexus)
- Monterey Blue, Nissan 370Z and Lamborghini

With a paint job you pretty much get what you pay for, although some shops do tack on a couple extra grand over what they should charge.
